Depends on how you look at it brother.

Freedom to be an asshole whilst contributing nothing useful? No.

As I said, it ruined the vibe of OTC for many (most?) and made it a chore to sort the wheat from the chaff. Too much bullshit and not enough discussion.

We started with hints 6 months ago, then requests, then ever-increasing temp bans, which appear to have finally done the trick. Just figured it was time to update the PSA for those who hadn't noticed.

Probably worth mentioning the fact that the only tweak to the PSA was the removal of the sexual-nature stipulation.

Ideally you shouldn't feel the need to insult other members at all.

The answer you're looking for has already been made clear 'though:
"Pointless" insults are ones not accompanied by... points.

EG:
You're a dickhead.
No, you're a dickhead.

You're Stupid.
No, you're stupid.

Solution?

EG:
You're stupid if you think a stone will fall upwards when you drop it.

As I said, in an ideal world the insults would be avoided by those with mature minds, but this isn't an ideal world, so all we ask is that you provide something of substance towards a discussion as opposed to "mindless", repeated insults.

I don't know how it could be any-clearer.

Anyone arguing that it's limiting free speech is in fact arguing for free reign on exchanging insults ad-infinitum, something no intelligent person is interested in reading.
