Threw this together & wanted to share. I'm late to the party with picking up a Dirty Tree but finally snagged one last week. REALLY like it in the live band on DT mode, but so far I've been preferring TC mode on the mic. Anyway it KILLED with my IIB+ Coli (the GOAT) and wanted to see if it could also improve the C+. What do you think?

that chiron just changed it up in a good way. Killer clips and video bro. Fuck that chiron is awesome...Wayne's the man.

I thought all three tones sounded awesome !!! I have my version of the TC Elec Intergrated Pre ...... which I like a lot ..... but that Dirty Tree sounds great ... because of the headroom ( mine runs at about 34 volts ) they make a real good platform to stack something in front ...... the Chiron runs a little under 18 volts

Thanks for taking the time to do the clip !!!

Felt like the DT took away any guts from the amp. Personally don’t feel like the c+ has enough low end to warrant a cut like that. Recto, Uber etc…different story

Cool demo, J. I’m liking the DT more than the Chiron with that amp. The DT is retaining more rawness, while the Chiron is smoothing it out too much for my taste. I actually dig the straight in tone the most, sounds fuller and more raw than boosted.
Imo the guitars would benefit if they were slightly higher in the mix.

On TC mode it does tame it compared to DT mode, but the latter got a little thin on the mic.

Keep in mind this is a Coli, low end is easy to dial back in if wanted. That said in the band mix I’ve been running less these days.

The Chiron tone is the tone we went for on the album!

Don’t blame you, Chiron is fantastic. I use mine more as extra juice for leads type of thing but it works really nicely for this style and amp you’re using

Agree here. The dirty tree and those amps is $$$.

I love the dirty tree. I basically set the TC side to sound similar to the DT side, but I add in a bit more high end. The Dirty Tree absolutely kills with the RG100ES.

Cool vid. I definitely preferred it straight in for that clip both in the mix and isolated. The boosts gave for my taste too much of that filtered/new gear sound. Unboosted was more raw, mean and pleasing to me

I like it with the DT . Makes it more original. Unique

Boosted vs. not is definitely the hardest choice I've had to make recording the album. I agree with what you've said here, and, I really wanted that extra aggression.

Our first go we boosted with a Dino Overdrive & 2006 V30s, then circled back & re-did everything with the Chiron & 2001 V30s.

Not too fond of my DT. Finicky and overrated for sure. I’m sure in the exact perfect setup it’s great….but buyer beware. Gets plenty of “bro” nut huggin round here.

It works great with select amps . The meshugah recto sound with DT is great when needed . I wanted to sell my MLC Silenoz amp because they rubbed me the wrong way . But that amp with a DT does the most ultimate recto tone I’ve heard .

I get the appeal. It's functionally effective at tightening the sound in a balanced way and works especially well in lower tunings, but the inherent tone itself of it is imo too filtered/inorganic sounding/somewhat cardboard-y maybe. I have the TC Integrated Pre it's based on and it does the same thing without that filtered/new gear type of sound I've grown to not like. I don't use if often, but it can be great for the right scenario

Brutal. I preferred no boost but playing feel might also dictate.
