I would say some of that is correct. We were far from wealthy, but I grew up in a comfortable environment. So as a parent, obviously money can be stressful, but I've never felt in danger of being out on the street.
But other than that, I've been a working motherfucker most of my life. Manual labor of sorts since about 8th grade. Even now that I'm in "management" I'm at work 6-7 days a week and on call when I'm at home. I work my ass off and as someone with a young family, have missed out on a lot of what life has to offer to be sure I can support them.
I do think I am pretty quick witted, so sure I'm good for a laugh, but I get along with most people because I let them be themselves. Just because I might think they are an idiot or an asshole, doesn't mean I treat them as such. That takes a lot of work and a lot of patience (and a lot of cigarettes). It's easy to get along with people if you just make a point of being nice to them.
I completely disagree with the last paragraph though. I mean I know it isn't specifically about me, but if anything I'm a slow ass driver and one of the few times I will bitch someone out to their face is for driving drunk. I can't fucking stand that. But I do get along to police officers. I grew up knowing many personally, and can't say I've ever had a bad experience with one that I didn't know. Then again, maybe it was because I didn't give them attitudes to begin with.
