An Atheist, a Evangelical, and a Flat Earther

nasty comments about my religion in general, but then he basically cursed God and Jesus. He knows I'm a christian because we have spoken about it. I'm not dealing with that. Especially when you’re doing it to piss me off because you lost your argument.
You might as well bang your head against the wall before trying to talk to a militant atheist. I figure you have two options, say something to feel better about yourself, or say something to that makes him respond to you.

You can talk to him as a Christian, and stick up for your religion, but it will go in one ear and out the other. You might as well tell him the earth is flat.
Or you can talk to him as a person and say “you know this stuff is important to me, so why are you shitting on it?”

If he answers you back as a person, you might have a chance; but if it sets off another tirade then he’s a lost cause

well that's just it...I was super reasonable and was like dude...just chill. Then he invited me to change his mind. I told him I could not do that. Then he made a couple more comments and then I went in. Your 100% correct....your pissing in the wind if you think your going to change their mind. I told him that also. But I said stop disrespecting me though. It's gotten to that point. And I'm not a good Christian....I'll leave it at that. Certain things you don't say...I told him that. If he repeats any of that filth in my presence then scourge of God mode will activate....or I will just get in my vehicle and leave. Then the homie's will proceed to make his time there miserable because he acted like a dick causing me to leave.

No one is a lost cause until they are dead.
This is true.

Sometimes just listening is the best way, even if he is laying on the insults. People that are that aggro are usually on the verge of cracking IME so it would be a good time to use what patience you can manage. Who will stand in the gap for him if it isn't you? Could be his last stop.
you ever heard the term "fighting words"? some terms he was using were fighting words in these here parts....just sayin...

I'm pretty sure it's part of a Christian's duty to help save the lost, no?
Except the common misconception is that it's "saved" in past tense. It's not one and done, "oh I'm saved now so I can get back to doing whatever". It's a process, a lifelong process.
