The only complaint I have about the Iconic is the massive size of the headshell. I wish they would’ve trimmed the size down a bit
What's the long term reviews as to reliability on these, I have seen some YT vids saying their Iconics broke three weeks after getting theirs, it could be a fluke.
I think your clip sounds great but I have a friend trying to decide between the 5153 EVH50, EVH100 watt or the Iconic and those few reports of the Iconics having some issues is leaning him towards the standard tube 5153's.
I never heard it would not like active pickups.
I changed the V1 tube to Tungsol 12ax7 instead of JJ - rolled off some of the bass an made it tighter and slightly brighter.

You've had like every major high gain amp out there and sold most of them......Cameron, Moab, Friedman BE100 and BE100/50 Deluxe, Monomyth and a bunch of others and you feel the Iconic is really on their level? Care to expound on how you feel the Iconic competes? The only complaint I have about the Iconic is the massive size of the headshell. I wish they would’ve trimmed the size down a bit
Wow, you must really have been following my trail all these years ? ?. I just know within the first couple of minutes whether an amp is going to work for me or not. So when I first plugged in the Iconic I turned everything on 6 it sounded good. I knew from there I’d be able to work with it. I could spend just a few more minutes dialing it in and there it was. From there I could concentrate on playing guitar and not tweaking for the next two hours and eveytime I turn it on. That’s how I know when I’ve got a good amp. I can say for the money, the Iconic is hands down the best amp for me of any of the amps you mentioned. You've had like every major high gain amp out there and sold most of them......Cameron, Moab, Friedman BE100 and BE100/50 Deluxe, Monomyth and a bunch of others and you feel the Iconic is really on their level? I didn't even mention your stock Marshall's like your 74 and some 2203's that you had... c'mon!Wow, you must really have been following my trail all these years ? ?. I offed the BE50 for the 100D. The clean channel is more to my liking but both are great amps ??I didn't even mention your stock Marshall's like your 74 and some 2203's that you had... c'mon!I just have a good memory of your past NADays......
Aren't we all ampwhores here? There's no shame to embrace what we are!
I also agree with you assessment of knowing/feeling if an amp is going to work or not as you do. If I spend too much time trying to convince myself I like something then it has turned out not to be for me...I either like it or I don't and that has applied to both guitars and amps over the years of playing. I will have to say that for the Iconic to rate so high still after you having it for some time is impressive to say the least.
Do you still have your Friedman BE50 deluxe or has the Iconic sent that amp packing as well?
Marshall and Bogner 4x12 with a mix of GB’s and V30’sWhat speakers and cab do you play your through?
Those first demos sucked bad and I think everyone tried hating the Iconic from the start because of them. The clips acev is posting are really accurate to the tone in the room. If you like what you‘re hearing, you’ll like the amp. It’s got a killer loop and cheap as fuck too, especially used. I got one about a year ago new for $899. Nothing compares at that priceSounds great. The first few demos I heard of these did NOT impress at all... but you have it sounding great!
