So were those that had them British nationals or Australian or both? As for culture, wouldn’t you say there is (Maybe “was”) an Australian culture that is distinct and worthy? In the us, ethnic diversity has been important, but usually the immigrants wanted to assume an American identity. The problem we seem to have is not the ethnic diversity, but there is no distinct American identity, as it’s been completely denigrated and obliterated by the wokesters. I’m American and have no clue what this country stands for at this point. We used to value rugged individualism, entrepreneurialism, tradition, family, freedom of religion (largely Christian, yes), political freedom and so on. No more.
