The reason rock music will die

We played great together . It’s just after that it’s lap time and all the fake drums and synths . But you’re right . It’s time I do it too
Tell them you’re a band not a studio. You come to play and perfect writing skills and performance skills. Recording is done in limited time and by professionals with actual professional recording equipment, which you yourself as a guitarist own. If they can’t comprehend this perspective, move them on. There’s a lot to be said about a band playing tight together and until that’s number one priority, the rest will never work.

Went to see my old singer's country/rock band last summer. He laughed when I asked him how he likes the music? He said, "wait till you hear us do an Alabama song..." I was like, cool you all sing then? We used to do Kansas, Journey, Queen etc and had 3 part harmonies, sometimes 4 if we talked the drummer into singing. They proceed to start an Alabama song, and it's huge harmonies but he's the only one singing! He was using a freaking pedal.
I told him on set break; you guys might as well be a karaoke band. Just play the music and have drunks come up and sing along with the PEDAL.
Lol

I been wanting to have a band again and have tried out 2 drummers . There’s literally no pride in live performance and sounding different. The last 2 drummers (both 25 ish ) were great while we jammed . After about an hour BOTH drummers on different days said sweet let’s record ( the jam as if it’s a finished song ) . They then both wanted to use superior drums to type out what they played . So they don’t even want to play on their own recordings any more . Then with my wall of amps which I love they said we won’t need those just use my plugins . They both showed me their songs from past and they all have identical production like say spirit box . Completely fake and no way of trying to get their own sound . I might add they said they will add synths like sleep token . I’d rather play alone than be a part of this shit . I mean they don’t even want to PLAY on their own songs . I love music and would love a band again but no way

They don’t want to play their own instruments now . I don’t get the fun and soulful part of making a song now.Alabama no pride in being original. Just type in the sound that’s hot . Fuck me lol
Rehearsal followed by programming!

Is that ‘trans-drumming’ ?

My best guess is, they don’t know better and it‘s the way they learned to make music. Don’t judge them to early, maybe you can teach them some stuff.

Drums are actually the hardest thing to record and the VSTs that are out there are soundwise hard to match. Most of the patches were created by famous producers in famous studios. Do you have a good recording environment, equipment and recording experience?
For a simple first demo, I see nothing wrong in programming drums. For the rest, try to go the real route if you have all the recording stuff.
Of course, if the project starts rolling with gigs and established lineup, there’s no way around recording real drums.

Triggers!

maintain the human, feel, but replace the drum with the sampled sound

Thing is they are like this is how do it . I’ll try to one to do real drums . It’s just shocking to not wanna play your parts . It adds so much vibe. Btw they want this shit on internet immediately.

One person was literally trans . And got mad that I misgendered all the time . I was just not thinking . But ya lol
In the age of higher education, tolerance, and understanding, you could be prisoned (or swatted) for that shit yo!

Like I said, for the first demo it’s ok but later real recording is a must. Maybe you have to communicate this beforehand.
Why not wanting to have your own parts on the record is beyond my mind. It‘s either they think they can’t play their programmed shit or this generation is so used to the generic shit out there that they simply don’t care.

It took a while but I decided it was not worth earning a knee replacement surgery stomping my foot on stage so that a shitty drummer could learn to count 1-2-3-4 and play in time. I've had many nights of private rage on the ride home over this. My dashboard has definitely taken a beating. It's amazing to me how many drummers cannot play time.

i always like the attempted Neil Peart style tom fill in a spot where there is no drum fill that no one asked for, which maybe could have been kind of cool but not really if the drummer took the time to practice, but its the week of the big gig so why do a thing like practice, then he comes in on the "E" and fucks it all up. that somehow translates to me being the asshole. then you get your "friends" pretending they didnt hear the bullshit, they can get the coily cable as well for lying so horribly

It happening twice really blew my mind .

If an engineer can't get a good drum sound in 15 minutes he don't know what the hell he''s doing.

By the sound of this forum few people will need to take the time to dedicate themselves to mastering a guitar at all in a few more years. The machine will get better tones so let's get together and program a record together. How much more lame dick will this world get?

I'd rather make music that is raw, original, and inspiring and be in a band that is fun and with people I consider friends. My bass player, drummer, and I went into our band with no expectations and work around everyone's schedules, families, etc. People are polishing music too much. It is losing the rawness.
