It's a pretty tough decision to guide a country through a pandemic with no "right answers" really without the luxury of hindsight.
You should know that five days after the emergency was declared, the leadership authority was transfered from HHS to FEMA (Under the DHS). All the regular pandemic preparedness routines were thrown out the door. Fauci and the CDC were basically spokespeople for the national security apparatus. It wasn't a public health response, it was a military response.

As a country we’ve never really had much of r a pandemic plan. GW put one together a while back that was kind of the foundation for Covid, but I believe we were completely caught with our pants down

There doesn't need to be a pandemic plan. Why do people these days have the idea the government needs to be responsible for.....everything?

The only people who have that idea are the 3,200 billionaires who use the world's governments to control the planet.

Most people on the street have that idea, you've been in the woods for too long.

Do you mean legally or with respect to the general tenants of public health? Pandemics and how to best handle them have been studied and understood for a long time. Biowarfare response is a different calculation, with different objectives.

So you're a public health expert now? :ROFLMAO:
As I explained, the public health agencies weren't leading the response. It wasn't public health, it was military.

A pandemic is a public health concern. That’s pretty simple man.

As for the GBD, that was just a bunch of bullshit created by rich people with too much time on their hands. AIER has been known as “those fucking weridos over on division street” to the locals since it started, long before the pandemic

Sure, but I keep telling you, it was treated as a biowarfare attack, not a naturally occuring viral pandemic, of which have occured multiple times over the last century in this country. The president's National Security Council (NSC) was responsible for Covid policy, not the HHS. As I mentioned, the leadership authority was taken from HHS and moved to FEMA under the DHS.

I’m not sure I necessarily disagreed with any of that

Yeah, you are because you're saying the response was justified under public health objectives instead of counterterrorism objectives.

The AEIR is just a free market think tank. I don't see why they would be considered weird. Regardless, the GBD signatories are public health and medical folks.

Not really man. If a bunch of people get sick, it’s a public health concern. Doesn’t matter if it’s the military or fucking aliens.
A government should have a plan in place for public health emergencies

They are a bunch of douche bags that deserve every golf ball we sent through with windows when we were growing up lol
