Well, I hope that works out for y'all in the long run.
I hate that they turn what should be "fun" into this bi-polar, rage-a-holic bullshit day after day.

@acceptance found a good spot to watch the eclipse from. I can’t smoke in here but I’ll survive

That's better than nothing but it ain't the same as being in the path of the totality. No watching the sunlight get weird, a shadow race across the landscape, feeling the air suddenly drop 5-10 degrees and then you're staring at a ring of fire. It's incredible.

it's not like the rest of the country gets "nothing". Western Mass is expected 95%. The telescope will be cool to focus in on the corona

Watch any video of a total eclipse and ignore what you see, because it's tough to capture. But listen to the people. They are always oohing and awing, blown away. You just can't not be.

It's different. Gotta be in the path, and the closer to the centerline the better.

Yeah, those same people will pay $500 for a ticket to a Taylor Swift concert.

:ROFLMAO:

I don't know if you'll be able to do that from there, will you? The angles will be off and you can't telescope even the partial sun without blinding yourself without special filters right?

a simple white filter should be enough. but you can see the corona anytime you want with the right filter really.

You won't be able to see the corona flaring out behind the moon though, at least not aligned. You can observe the eclipse without any filters during totality. I'd look into what filters you actually need before you blind yourself.

Speaking of, what are the chances that the moon, while supposedly vastly smaller than the sun, just happens to perfectly cover the sun during an eclipse because of perspective? That should give random universe people something to think about.
