To put it in perspective, the United States has more people imprisoned than Russia does. Now how does it look in terms of "freedom"? Do you think the US has not eliminated it's enemies at home and abroad? They are just better at keeping it under wraps. "Suicide". "Accident". The US ran the School of the Americas, teaching torture and espionage (read: overthrowing and destabilizing govs and installing regimes) to central and south american people. Do you have any idea of the level of meddling we've done in the Americas alone? I get tired of rinos and dems painting us as some kind of angelic world savior, because the opposite is true. A bunch of meddling American nitwits running the show.

Crimea has been part of Russia since the Ottoman's lost it in a war to Russia in 1774.

Khrushchev "gave" it to the USSR state of Ukraine for administration purposes / to simplify Soviet administration.

Great to see you support the actions of the USSR rulers; just like you support actual nazis in Ukraine. :D

History is there for all to see, read and research for themselves; too bad many don't bother.

You can minimize, laugh, do/say what you want but Putin telegraphed EXACTLY what his future plans were, WAAY back in 1999 with his first recorded interview after he blackmailed Yeltsin out of office. His first, most important 'grievance' of all....the biggest tragedy of the 20th century...the fall of the USSR.
And, pray tell, who does he hold responsible? The West of course. Guilty as charged. We had them chasing ghosts and spending money they didn't have. It was beautiful. Lol.

So, in 2022 starts his quest to 'right the wrong' of that said failure of the USSR. Apparently you just can't understand how helping Ukraine fight back actually helps the rest of us here. That's too bad...it's a simple world you live in...and for your sake I do hope you stay there. For the record, I certainly hope it doesn't come to WWIII but if Putin is allowed to continue on his present path, without resistance I'm afraid what I predict will come true. It's just a matter of time.

You know how many dopes I've heard jump on the trans agenda lately? Do you think they would've said "gender is a spectrum" 25 years ago? It's taught. It's indoctrination. They can't/wouldn't/didn't think of that themselves. The same is true for conservative news outlets. I have a buddy who is a good dude that I can reliably predict will parrot whatever clickbait hype story is posted to Whatfinger or Liberty Daily. Ditto my neighbor and Fox news. Dude is now stacking food and water, convinced there will be shortages, because it's on Fox and he "pays extra to have quality, informed news that other people can't afford". I'm learning humility just letting them talk while I listen and refrain from commentary.

Now you know why I trust in the Lord and little else.

I appreciate that you’re actually providing something to consider. So you think all the other reasons — NATO expansion, denazification, the killing of some 14,000 ethnic Russians in the Donbass — are just a ruse, and he is lying when he says he has no intention or desire to do anything other than deal with Ukraine as of March 2024, 25 years later? Do you have any other evidence that he intends to conquer Europe or recreate the USSR other than this statement from 1999? And by the way, I haven't heard the statement, but is "Grieving the loss" of the USSR equivalent to stating a desire to recreate it?

I only care about guitar and biblical things tbh so I don't really care what Putin does, he's no better or worse than the dirt we have running things here in my mind. Ukraine has had monks, MONKS beaten and jailed. They kicked the monks out of the ancient kiev monastery, inhabited for hundreds of years, since 1051!!!! Who does that but an evil government? WHY WOULD I SUPPORT THEM? They broke communion with the Russian orthodox church and created a schism all because of political motivations. I know it means nothing to you and you'll get your little laugh emoji in, have at it, but it does mean something to me and about 350 million other orthodox people. The Ukrainian government needs to, and will, go the way of the dodo. They are not worth supporting. They are corrupt, evil men from the east being propped up by corrupt, evil men from the west while being attacked by corrupt evil men from further east. Wars and rumors of wars. Let those who persecute monks either turn away from evil or be destroyed.

it's called war for a reason. When you take on a larger, stronger, more populous country you will lose more, just as Ukraine did. If it wasn't for NATO lies and support, that many Russians would not have died. The Russians won't forget, as the Chinese have not forgotten their century of humiliation at the hands of the Western colonial imperial powers and Japan.

all empires eventually fall; when empires fall, the vengeance of their enemies is often devastating and complete.
