Rowan Atkinson recently gave this speech on free speech. I thought it was brilliant. A very important issue in Britain, Australia and even the US - especially with the current lefty cancel culture...

 
That’s a good video dude. Im curious though, especially as someone outside the US, what people think the left is trying to cancel? Though it’s not a personal qualm of mine, the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is religion in school, namely Christianity. I’m not denying anything, I just can’t think of anything.

How about JK Rowling, Rudyard Kipling, Dr Seuss, Roald Dahl, Enid Blyton etc etc etc etc
 
How about people that don't like diversity thrust upon every TV show on Netflix. I'm not the only one who has noticed it - this meme has popped up in various forms lately making a humorous point about it.

the obvious two-tier policing is obvious and disgusting; when native Brits serve more time in jail for social media posts than an invader who repeatedly raped a 12-year old girl gets 180 hours of community service...the police response to native Brits against invasion vs the invaders destroying Britain and preying on native Brits with impunity should be a wake up call for everyone
 
They couldn't even leave the Robinsons alone in Lost in Space. They had to contrive some warped ammended plot to get a blended family in.

looks like Mrs. Robinson had a side thing with Tyrone before Mr. Robinson wifed up a 304 single mom?

I don't pay attention to hollywood / entertainment industry, so haven't seen this before.

I haven’t heard of most of those people lol. The jk Rowling I remember vaguely but I think if she wrote another Harry Potter, all the same people would go out and buy it.
Dr Seuss is news to me though, I’ll have to check it out.

But compared to something like “go woke go broke”, the left outrage seems more about liking the smell of their own farts and less about stifling expression. That’s just me though.

I did mate - the downside is you become even more out of touch with society as it moves on and you live in the past. Not saying that's not preferable but it's also not ideal. Ideally society wouldn't go down the toilet in the first place.

Failing to consume recent pop culture phenomenons doesn't really make you out of touch with society. The latest greatest film or artist? Most people aren't going to see or hear it, and that's the statistics. I've never had netflix and I haven't listened to broadcast pop radio since the early 2000's. Yeah I don't recognize some of the movies or artists but no one has ever made me feel out of touch. If anything, by avoiding dreck level culture, you are more in touch with humanity. Hope you are well brother.

The trend for some time now has been a decrease in incarcerated black people and an increase in incarcerated white people. I don't know the root cause but at some point white people will be the dominant force inside prisons.

that's why indifference works for me. I call out the clown world as I see it, mostly it's entertaining.

My only interest is the financial stability of the USA and to a lesser extent Asian and European markets. Once I get my magic number for retirement, I'm done; going even more grey man, getting my exit plans in place.

Either an oceangoing sailboat or a 2nd passport, or both if it makes financial / social sense to me. Like many Americans, my ancestors (most) left their home countries by choice to escape whatever was happening, with exception of my Scots ancestors who were victims of the highland clearances. I see nothing wrong with doing the same as my ancestors.

I'll likely reduce my income in retirement from where it is now, minimize my taxes and adjust my income to prepare for coerced RMDs. I don't expect things to get dire in the US where I am now or where I would move to, in my lifetime, but contingency plans will be considered and in place.

Yeah but if you realize how the deceit and propaganda twists innocent minds and destroys lives it becomes less funny to me. This is why I don't get angry with them very much though. They were misled so it isn't solely their responsibility and I say this as someone who believes in personal accountability.

fair enough, but it's a problem for everyone else. as the numbers of these soy-infested, 'gender fluid ingesting", woke useless idiots increases you may realize you can't turn the tide back.

Glubb's essay, "Fate of Empires" discusses this; during the decline of every empire/civilization he studied, they all went through a period of decadence, feminization, rot, decay and weakness at which they either collapsed internally or were conquered by a rising power.

No failing empire was able to save itself once it reached the decadence phase (I forget what he actually called it?) of its' decline.

Resistance is futile.

Hence, my indifference. I'm not interested in stopping the decline, slowing the decline or reversing the decline; my objective is to make the most of whatever happens / doesn't happen and enjoy the ride for as long as I can. which also includes my contingency / exit plans.
