Rock Stars using live shows as their political platform

Man, I'm not saying the left is justified for doing this while the right is not. At all. And the media's coverage of it is irrelevant. I'm saying if the artist writes political lyrics, don't be surprised if they get political, whichever side they're advocating. Hell, even Ted Nugent has recently changed the lyrics in some of his older songs to be more political, when performed live. I'll let you guess as to which side he's leaning toward.

What i'm saying is this is an immensely hypocritical position that all on the left seemingly take without even thinking about

And OF COURSE you want to keep the media coverage out of it, because the media obviously only excoriates those on the right for doing this while lionizing the left for doing the exact same fucking thing LOL

You're demonstrably wrong though. I just outlined it in PJ's case in post #55
Dude, believe me, I was around and very active when Pearl Jam hit. I never cared for them, but my best friend Bob ( RIP) loved them. Named his son Jeremy. Not a single person I ever ran across considered Pearl Jam a "Political" band. Nirvana was way more political. And U2 has been very political in just about every song they ever wrote.

Name me OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD some big Pearl Jam songs that are political and cite the lyric that proves it.

Soundgarden was political but Cornell's lyrics were very subtle. Look at The Day I Tried To Live, Mailman, Black Hole Sun, Burden in my Hand. All that shit is political. Do you really think anyone was catching the politics of Black Hole Sun went it went supernova on the radio ?

Didn't I just provide that? They literally have an anti-Trump song called, well whatever it's called as outlined in that post above. Just because I don't listen to PJ doesn't mean I'm not aware of their ideologies.

Maybe some people are more astute than you?

Big radio hit was it ? One of the songs that made them popular ?

Probably not but they likely performed it live for at least the album cycle from which it was on, especially if it was considered a controversial song by their fanbase.

Dude, ask anyone who they think the most political bands are. It won't even be in the top ten. Maybe not in the top 20.
I'm just going to have to defer to your knowledge of Seattle music man. I know more of what these groups were about than their actual music, I must admit.

I have no doubt that in their live shows during the Trump era they have become much more blatantly political in their onstage banter. They also haven't released any new music anyone gave a fuck about in about 20 years now.

Ok then, so we can at least agree that apart from their debut album Ten, they suck?

My point is that, for instance, all the people ( myself included) who love RATM, buy their music, pay to see them live, etc. are not doing it because they love or even care about their ( by which I mean mostly Zak's) political message. People just like music that makes them want to smash shit. And the brash, coarse lyrics invoke that kind of feeling and people don't really delve into the political ramifications of it. Do you think RATM has converted a lot of people to the democratic party ? Or maybe they just like a solid banger and a guy screaming ( They can be fuckin with other people's shit but they can't be fucking with mine, etc..

Frankly I think everything about them except Mike McCready's exceptional guitar skills suck. There isn't a single Pearl Jam song that I wouldn't change the station on.

In your case sure. But I'm telling you I knew people from 30 years ago that literally changed their outlook on life from certain bands lyrics. Mainly young and impressionable 'scene' kids. You can't speak for everyone.

Political music sucks, and it was originally a bunch of commie leftists who incorporated political messages in their music. Dopes like KR and Nugent are just as retarded, and are still stumping for the same level of establishment trash the lefties are. Nothing would send me packing from any show like a political talk.

Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie.

Seattle Bands showed their lack of brain capacity when the "BLM" "deFund the Police" "Summer of Love" all crashed and burned on a national stage. Incapable of truth or a small section of reality, they voted and would have voted for Oatmeal brains again. They live their lives shitting in their pants and then changing their shirts.

Retarded people, millions of them. I look at the left-wing as mental handicapped individuals because they are. Still following the talking points.

F**k Pete Seeger, human garbage.
