Given how overall reading/maths levels are lower now amongst the younger generations relative to 50-60 years ago and even 10-20 years ago and how a lot of social media is based on videos and images......

How long do forums like this have left in the coming years?

How long do forums that are based on reading and writing have left Post Literacy/Critical Thinking?

You think Rig Talk is based on critical thinking???

On some level I imagine....... but it is based on basic reading and writing as that is what makes up the forum and how it works in its foundation.

And well yeah as more and more forms of communication or "forums/social media" seem to move away from that will that mean less activity on such traditional forums vs an Instagram/Tik-Tok version of the same thing.....

Or are forums just going to change with the times or will there be less and less activity on them vs other types of social media that relate to music and gear?

Forums aren’t gonna change. They’re exactly the same now as they were when they migrated out of AOL. People are people. If they had a forum like this in 1824 it would be the same as it is now just with different current events.

It's an interesting thought, I think back from 2998-2007..forums were huge. Around then, the Myspace era hit...and everyone kind of became less communal and a lot more self absorbed to their own content. Since then, many social media favorites have come and gone. For reasons simple or not, people are gravitating back to the simple discussion format that forums provide. The format that felt comfortable to them all along. So essence, while social media with all it's trappings has created a storm of controversy...maybe forums are our last bastion of true free speech and hope.

This is true and Twitter/X and other platforms like that is a great example.

Places like that and here are like todays printing press and public forum all in one.

What do you see the future holds in terms of music and instrument forums?
I don't know to be honest given how X/Twitter and others are doing so good given they actually follow a very similar platform to old school forums.....

Maybe TGP/RT and places like them have been ahead of their time all this time and we haven't really noticed it or seen it that way especially as said as modern forums like X/Twitter and others are practically almost the same thing in terms of platforms where people communicate with reading and writing. Of course more images and videos on X/Twitter and the like but they still use reading and writing as a foundation more than Tik-Tok or Instagram for example.

Maybe 100 years from now we will still have this as a popular form to communicate and forums like this will still be the standard for gatherings of folks with different points of views........

Maybe not so much at TGP because of all the Woke BS or Woke Members who have taken over it but yeah in general such forums will still stay and be popular for the foreseeable future.

I think if anything gear forums without OT sections or ones like Teh Ghey Page where the moderators are complete fucktards will become less popular. The only people that like those places are people who don't like their opinions challenged so they prefer not to have conversations about them. Or people who, you know, don't like mean tweets. So get some thick skin like everyone else and we'll have a grand old time for eternity.

Mind boggling thread given you can't seem to comprehend a single sentence and have spent the last two days crying about how it doesn't make any sense to you, Glitch. Also, why are you here after what you posted about this forum on your youtube page?
