I still have a box with around 12 cassette tapes and old diskettes with midi files on them. Here is a jam I got out of one of the tapes

Funny thing about that old track, my friend who played bass on it had that groovy bass riff ready, i added the chords over it, we created that "cheezy" electronic beat and basic rhythm midi track using my Kawai K1 and sequencer (no computer back then), you can feel we missed a few tempo timing. The whole thing was recorded with a Fostex four track. The guitar solo is a one take. I wonder if I could still play this as I did on that day.Do do do do do..
Do do do do do ..
LOL Enjoyed it!
It was great. The whole thing was a sign of the times.. The "do-do-do-do-do" thing was a tribute to a local humoristic group that had a tv show back with a sketch which a pseudo-false-alien.
Man, that thread is bringing back some good feeling in my memory and makes me realize how old I am right now.It was great. The whole thing was a sign of the times.. It takes me back..![]()
Yep! Totally agree. And never been able to get the "vibe" from my old one take recordings.Yup.
Love hearing myself through 1970s budget gear.
FF 50 yrs and $80k worth of newer shit and i really don't sound much better
Here's another mic less wonder.. Still in my guitar hero phase.. Still the ADA/Quadraverb straight in..
When I go into the solo, the dropout is the channel lag when I switch to a more midrange sound on the ADA.
When you look back, it seemed to go by fast..Man, that thread is bringing back some good feeling in my memory and makes me realize how old I am right now.
My plans back then, as I thought that improv was kinda cool, was to make that tune the "intro" of three instrumentals. The 2nd one was recorded and the third partly but never finished. I once tried to redo the 2nd one with all the modern gear I have now and never was able to get the vibe from the original recording.
The fuzzy direct sound hides a lot of clams.. By the time I was done with that ADA I think the gains were on 10!Some seriously fast playing in your recording! You could shred!!!
Plenty, but those detectives are still keeping them in the evidence locker
No, I literally meant cassette recordings of a police interrogation. Because I killed RonYep, there is no way on earth i'm playing that shit here.
I was 12-13 when I first started playing in bands and recording demos, and it shows - one of the songs on our demo is about a retarded kid named Ron.
it's not very good

It’s true, it’s true. I convinced him he was the son of the local Ronald McDonald mascot, since they shared the same first name. Told him his real Dad wants to meet him in the McDonalds birthday party caboose at midnight. Well, he went and was never heard from again. Turns out that mascot had a certain kind of criminal record so you can fill in the blanks…I find that hard to believe, Ron was one of those "trenchcoat mafia" kids, post-columbine, that tried to be intimidating by wearing Matrix wear and hinting that he would pew pew up the school - he eventually DID bring a gun to school, but didn't go out in a blaze of glory like expected.
He was still a retard though, and it was probably in bad taste to write a song antagonizing the local school shooter and screaming that he fucks his dad and is retarded.
