Is there an abundance of trade work?

Since the 1970s two sayings have destroyed manual labor:

1. You have to go to college to be successful.
2. Do something you enjoy and you’ll never “work a day in your life”.

Then they removed shop classes from schools.

As a result, we have way too many French Literature graduates and not nearly enough handymen. There is an entire generation of corporate employees that spent their careers in cubicles doing busy work because they majored in a subject that has few real world applications.

As AI takes over more of those tasks, I believe humans will become forced to return to manual labor to earn a living.

I managed an apartment bldg for a WW II Vet for 13 yrs. One of our tenants had 2 PhD's.
One in Engineering and one in Law.
He didn't even know how it install a door knob cuz i had to show him.
Ripley's "believe it or not".

If you need trades work done you either gotta know someone, have a lot of money or have a lot of patience.

Or just be a man and do it yourself.

I do most stuff myself. Just not boiler work.
