Wondering how this season has been since getting their tax returns positive or negative?

It started off with nothing moving, but now it’s picking up again. Sold a bunch of stuff this week (smaller items, but still) with a cool trade or 2 also coming up

Buyers market and getting better

I bought 2 things recently and had zero thoughts of offering less because they were excellent deals. One I bought instantly the moment I saw it (Boogie) and one I slept on for a few weeks (Knaggs).

There are crazy deals if you get lucky, I missed a Boogie Mark2C listed on the Boogie Board Forum by a day or less yesterday for $2,700.00. It's worth twice as much to me! I check the deals here and on CL almost daily for awesome deals.

I could have bought gold or crypto coin, but, what, is anyone going to tell me something I haven't heard all my life? Would I be on this forum, haha! I'm 62 this year and feeling it as far as how many gigs are left and how long my fingers will work. I'm not super rich but I work hard and my bills are paid.

If we get a D.O.G.E. pay-out, then I'll buy gold or crypto.

I did sell an empty 1974 Marshall cabinet, made $400.00 profit and sold a guitar that I lost about $1,500.00 on (1972 Gibson SG Custom) so, not too too worried about money, or wife. I'm going sell a lot of stuff this summer, like my massive P.A. tons of cases and racks/gear, just stuff, no guitars or amps at this point. Maybe the Boogie Mark V35.

I don't understand how I end up getting enough for McDonalds, or end up paying. If I could afford it, I would get a sleazy accountant.

My gear sales last year exceeded the IRS limit, so I got to pay taxes on it. Nothing I want to sell, but if I do I'll have to factor "income taxes" into it. Only things I want to buy are still available new.

I usually owe the government every year, by design; 2024 I owed them more than usual.

If you get a refund, you know you're basically giving the government an interest-free loan. No thanks.

It feels like prices are mostly back to some sensibility. Can still find the crazy overpriced listings sometimes though. This year I’ve bought 2 guitars and 1 amp, a couple pedals and traded for another amp. I never negotiated prices as they were all good deals to me.

So hopefully we’re settling back into “normal” trends. Getting back to where you can buy a used piece of gear with the confidence that you can mostly get your money back if you sell it later.

Been hearing some guys locally and online complaining that nothing is moving. A lot them are guys that bought at the top of the market during covid, and are trying to get top dollar from that market still. I remember hearing a lot of "If you want something bad enough, overpaying is okay." Well...

Things priced to sell get sold.
Things priced because the seller “wants to make their money back” will sit.
I’ll never understand that mentality. Things don’t appreciate or stay at stagnant value because YOU owned it.

The next time I hear some idiot say "Well, I'd like to get what I paid for it..." I am going to physically assault them.
Depends on if they bought it new or used. I bought a LP DC for about a grand, and I'm trying to sell it for the grand I paid for it. It's worth that. If they bought it new and try to sell it for that price, they're insane.

I sold the Laney I was looking to move, no attempt at a negotiation, just happy with my price, which was great.

My Jackson RR1 has been sitting a little while, but I also understand that as it's not "cheap" and its sort of an acquired taste/buyer specific. That one I might wind up putting on Reverb

Agreed, I meant a case where if someone paid $1700 used for the guitar, and it's worth $1000 and selling for $1000, but they stick to wanting $1700 because "I wanna get what I gave for it" and complain it won't sell.
