Any one owns a Zeus/O2? i'd really appreciate an advice before purchesing

Not one to tell people how to spend their money, but as pretty and seemingly good priced as Kiesels are there's a reason they exchange hands pretty quickly and often. The last one I had pops up on Reverb for sale by a new owner a couple times a year. If you're going to go through with it anyways I would not add any overpriced or crazy options and also call to confirm details before ordering a custom build to make sure they get it right. Finally pay with a credit card so that when they send you what you didn't order you have someone in your corner.

I concur with the above. I only have experience buying kits from them at their Hollywood store and one custom order from 2009. I hesitate to pay their current prices (Ultra V specifically).

What is the main problem with them? QC?

Not so much QC which was fine, and my experience doesn't equal the rule. Both of the last 2 kiesels I've bought were amazing... looking. No setup would get them to play or feel amazing. Both also had options that I didn't order and was never able to resolve with them (as in they didn't care, they are the builder and know what it is that I want, apparently).

Have heard/read that the dull/dead feel seems to be a common thing. Guessing they either don't dry their wood out properly/long enough/odd process, or they go with whatever is cheap. To me the resonance and sustain of a guitar is very important for more reasoning than your average guitarist, so this may not be a concern for others. Whether or not you love your build, please triple make sure you are getting what you're paying for and that everyone is on the same page and that no liberties to the way they feel something should be put together are open for discussion.

I have no experience with that particular guitar. But if you're going to spend over $2k on an import would recommend looking at Strandberg, Ormsby, Legator, Ibanez, or Agiles before going through the checkout process. Pretty much in that order. If you don't vibe with that Synyster Gates, I'm going to guess that it's going to be a very hard sell second hand. Like I said though, not one to tell people how to spend their money. Just throwing out some options. Electronics can always be swapped if those are features that you like.

Thanks!

So is Kiesel just a continuation of the Carvin legacy or are they worse. Because I own a Carvin guitar I love and I owned a Carvin 6 string bass which I also loved.

It's his son Jeff. Who's kind of an ahole and a know it all, because daddy dearest. Literally spent like $3k on my last Kiesel to wait forever only to end up with the wrong neck and frets and them to argue that it's the way it should be. Why offer it? Why charge me? Why not call and say, hey we are uncomfortable with your selection and feel that this would be a better route based on our experience, but if you wish to proceed?

Kiesel i had was one of the most beautiful guitars i ever had. But was uninspiring as fuck to play.

Also, call and talk to them. Dont order online. I ordered online because it was 5 am and i was excited. I called when they opened to give them the final selections not available online, and they said it was too late. Once deposit hits, build is set in stone

Hmm. Kinda like what happened to Rickenbacker after FC Hall turned it over to John Hall. Who is a complete dickhead.

They aren't bad guitars per say but expect to change pickups. As long as you don't go crazy with the options and make sure you phone in your order you should be ok.

That’s what they used to say about Carvin too, but I like the pickups in mine.

Ordered a Vader when they first came out. As others have said, looked amazing but was pretty dead sounding and uninspiring to play. Moved on from it pretty quickly.
