I was thinking more along the lines of this 80's rocker.....just a wee bit too far for me man, but I do really like the look of a lot of the Tylers....the more 80s LA the better

You have to make a dedicated JAMES TYLER thread when that bad boy is done. And you are going with the right finish on your hardware! Stay Gold Pony Boy!!!View attachment 400677
i think once the rest of the gold hardware, pickups and strings are on my burning tobacco, i won’t be able to put her down!
how is your VBF pedal treating you btw? are the dumble vibes high? You have to make a dedicated JAMES TYLER thread when that bad boy is done. And you are going with the right finish on your hardware! Stay Gold Pony Boy!!!![]()
The Electric Lightning is one of the best overdrive/boost pedals I’ve had (almost 200 now lol)how is your VBF pedal treating you btw? are the dumble vibes high?
i’m sampling a couple of pedals atm—my buddy’s thorpy electric lightning and a vox silk drive. both have some smooth saturation to them. light and easy on the fingers for soloing.View attachment 400696

Pretty good I would say and thanks for asking brother. I never played a Dumble or a clone I just have some dumble-esque input cap values inside a Twin but when I can get the volume above 4 on the amp the blue side of the VBF Deluxe blends seamlessly with the right settings. It melds with the amp tone. It's really beautiful sounding cause I can control how saggy/driven the bottom end gets i.e I can keep it tighter/cleaner like I prefer it and still get singing leads with a quick guitar vol adjust. Below 4 on the amp and the dialing in gets more finicky than I would lie.how is your VBF pedal treating you btw? are the dumble vibes high?
The full EQ controls looks pretty sweet!!The Electric Lightning is one of the best overdrive/boost pedals I’ve had (almost 200 now lol)
That’s just a nice bonus. The gear that gets ranked among my favorites if purely for tone quality not features or nice conveniencesPretty good I would say and thanks for asking brother. I would say the Gladio (blue) side of the pedal is just a little bit better than the Blue Note. Not by much, but the bass and clean controls seem to give it a slight edge to tonal control when I can run my amp loud like I want. There is still quite a bit of exploring for me to do with it both at lower volumes and the green side of the pedal is something I've only tried once or twice.

Nice. I wish I had a Deluxe for those lower volume gigs. I was really tempted to just get the Super initially but when in doubt go big so, Twin.good to know.
after owning old fenders, old boogie IIB coli, coupla IIIs, triaxis/395, egnater tol 50. & 100, fuchs ods100, two rock onyx, and carol ann od2r-
-having played two rock: ruby, opal, custom clean, TS-1, jet, and EXO
bludo: high plains drifter
bruno: cowtipper
carol ann: OD100, triptik 2,
-and currently having 24/7 access to my friend’s fuchs odsII, bludo joyeaux and bludodrive,
i can say with a fair degree of experience using chewy boutiquey amps that a good cranked up Twin/Bassman/Super with good tubes, proper speakers, a high quality dumble pedal, some verb/delay, and the right guitar, will nail a wide variety of dumble tones. after playing my new-at-the-time ethos od through my blacfaced deluxe on 4, i stopped chasing dumble amp clones$$$.
i got to sample a 61 Twin with JBL D120Fs a few years ago@mentoneman I should mention I got to try out one of those handwired '57 RI Tweed Twins last saturday at a blues jam. Man if that ain't a sweet sounding rig! Nice breakup and decent clarity. I'd never seen one in person let alone tried one. Sounded great with my Viper until I busted a string and was lent a nice strat by the jam's host which also just sung through that amp. Maybe a little loose for that dumble tone but a great sounding blues amp nonetheless.Only trouble is the pricing is a little out of my range but having tried it I think I would choose it over a Super even if I ever go into new amp shopping mode.
Yeah those RI 57's are an amazing amp. I am not generally readily impressed by combo amps but it had enough tightness, not Twin tightness but it had headroom, while simultaneously being just squishy enough to be forgiving to play. Rumor has it that Santo Farina of Santo and Johnny fame plugged his T-3 custom Fender steel guitar into an original for all their most famous recordings. It's fat, with a nice top end breakup that is smoother than a Twin, though less clear and punchy.and honestly outside of the fact that the tremolo on it was very tasty, i liked the 57 tweed twin reissue i played from the 2009 era more.
I was staring at the back of this amp and noticed that's a cast frame speaker. Eminence designed it to copy the D130 per the ad. Kind of a steeler's amp which leads me to believe that speaker is the same basket as the Paul Franklin series. It's says 225 watts which is like the old Eminence Commonwealth, which is no longer produced, but shares the same basket as the PF series (I think). I wonder if it's just a commonwealth?this went up for sale locally a few weeks ago and caught my eye:

I stumbled upon this.
Dedicated to Brother VBF. RIP.
