I know about that bass.
As for Ed'd guitar it might be the remnants of a Bumblebee prototype. Ed had seen another band w/a Bumblebee playing the strip made by Charvel and was pissed. He sent Charvel a cease & desist notice and basically cut ties.
This guitar may be a Bumblebee that he taped up so nobody would have one but Ed.

That was the very first Kramer he got from the company. It had a Rockinger trem on it, was metallic purple before he put that multicolored vinyl tape on it and taped over the name on the headstock. I believe this is also the guitar that Dweezil Zappa says was passed around in an impromptu jam with Ed, Steve Vai and Frank Zappa.

Yep that’s the guitar and it might’ve inspired this song or at least parts of it . Jimi’s Purple Haze might’ve also been an inspiration for it
