Duff McKagan talks about his new Signature Bass and jams with the new GnR drummer

As much as I love bass ( playing and listening to), so much of it always ends up sounding the same lol.. Give me something with tight defined lows and I am good to go.

Also GnR', the world is tired of hearing the same old shit you've played since 87'..if you are going to do that, could you at least bring Adler back. No offence to this latest drummer ( I think they have had 5 or so) but Adler has a rythm and swing that these other guys do not have. It's a feel thing. I am sure they can play like a metronome but that isn't where the magic is.

I'd love it if Alder came back, but the guy had a stroke and if I were Axl, I'd be very reluctant to hire a stroke victim as my drummer. I say that as a stroke victim and as a drummer with over 50 years of playing experience under my belt. Isaac Carpenter, their new drummer is a beast on the kit. That guy grooves like a mofo.

Sorry, I’m as familiar with Duff’s body of work as anyone and while he’s an ok bass player and worked real well for GnR and VR, his “Style” has nothing in common with Prince, Lemmy or JPJ.

I think he's a fantastic bass player. Dude grooves hard and comes up with killer parts. Rocket Queen, for example. His bass playing on that tune is pure stank-ass funk. Duff and Adler used to do rehearsals with just the two of them and Duff had them playing stuff like Cameo and Prince...and that's a big reason for the sick ass grooves on "Appetite". Lemmy? "It's So Easy". And the bass "solo" in the beginning of "Sweet Child of Mine" is perfect...I hear JPJ's melodic sense in that bit. Duff's cool, too. Very down to earth.
