I'm sure Floyd eye is gonna give me a verbal berating for not using beams under the joists, but the span is not that big and it's just for my wife, so she can sit in a pool. She always wanted a pool, but our yard is too sloped and I'm not staying in MA. I'm not looking forward to trying to figure out the sand pump. More joists to go in, and more supports, stairs leveled, but I wanted to get the frign lattice done first, as it has a frame and is a pain in the ass. It's not really up to code, but for a floating deck, it will be fine. I have cedar to go on top. Fucking rains every Saturday which is the only day I have to work on this. I hate carpentry. Too many fucking tools required to do this shit.

You could at least notch the 4x4s so the weight is sitting on the posts.

The GRK lags I used on my deck were rated at 2000lbs each and I used many of them. 12x30. I did the same as you plus my header is bolted/epoxied to the slab my cabin is on. If it had been more than 18" or so off the ground I probably would've notched them. You could easily screw some cut 2x6's to fasten to the 4x4's and support the joists directly but you should be fine as is. I used a couple of those underneath the areas my heaviest peeled logs sit that support the deck roof. The decking itself is treated 2x6's. I'm liking your project, big time, it's def giving me ideas for the future.

Thanks, my dad taught me how to use a framing square years ago. Surprised I remember how to do it. I do a lot of decks, These two I just did on the back of a house recently. One from scratch against a rock foundation :( and one over a concrete form step. The woman asked for the remainder of the screws when I was done, LOL. I'm getting pretty good with the trex.

Well I don't really need a deck. It's probably a stupid idea to have a deck when I already have a patio? But I'm not the only one. The pool is kind of weak, but good if you want to just sit in something and cool off. That's about all it's useful for.

Here's a nice one I found online. I told my wife around 1k for the pool and pump and decking. Well, about $2700 later LOL. PVC and Cedar are Expensive

Very cool, never seen a miter on the treads like that before in the first pic. Looks great!
