Purchased the 78/79 package from IK multimedia, UPDATE 7/4/25

if i bought the vh pack and edited a preset to my tastes, can i then send it in it’s entirety to the pedal?

or are there more links in the chain like the phaser/flanger, echoplex, sunset sound reverb, etc that the pedal can’t access and thus the full chain must be run on the computer only?
The Echoplex and Sunset Reverb are part of the T-Racks 6 program, which is a totally different software package.

However, if you only use the phaser/flanger, delay, and reverb that are part of ToneX, yes, you can save the preset to the pedal including those effects.

The 78/79 collection contains 50 tone models. When you change the EQ or add effects from the ToneX effect strip then you save that as a preset. That doesn't change the original tone model. Then, you can recall that preset, or send it to the pedal. The original base tone is a tone model, but when you edit it, you save that as a preset. Those are two different things.

@harddriver have you made any progress?
i still only have the six original presets i customized and have been experimenting with.
not inspired enough yet to buy the 78/79.

tried it last night bypassing the cab ir and running into my peacemaker. it wasn’t the worst thing i’ve ever heard but not jaw dropping.

what would be cool is if jim gausted sent a tonex pedal loaded with his 78/79 and latest WACF/FW pack he’s working on to Jacob Deraps and Al Estrada to get their feedback on how it sounds and plays before finalizing.

NO.....

I got a reply from IK multimedia and it wasn't much of a support reply whatsoever and not very encouraging. I mean it should not be this much trouble to get software to download correctly to an upgraded computer in 2025 and IK multimedia should know exactly what to do to remedy the situation since they are the software guru's that built the damn thing for windows 10/11. If I don't make some progress in the next couple of weeks I may just return the IK interface and I'll have to eat the $69.99 for the 78/79 package as a loss........pretty disappointing for something that sounded so good but if I can't get the software to run WTF. Every other piece of software has downloaded flawlessly from the internet to this computer until now. I'll try what they sent me but it's sort of ambiguous if you ask me.

Here's what they sent me after I told them that the software downloaded but would not run and what messages I was getting.

Thanks for your patience while we got back to you.

When you can, please try closing your software and deleting the contents of the following folders to reset your application to the defaults. Next, remove any unnecessary peripherals from your machine. This includes audio interfaces, USB dongles, or any connections to your machine which are not required to open the application. Once done, let us know if this helps.

if you continue to have issues, please let us know in your response (if you're able to do so), the currently selected sample rate and audio buffer size settings. These can be found in the Audio/MIDI Set Up inside your audio interface's control panel, the stand-alone app, or DAW Settings.

Inside IK Multimedia applications, the menu is typically in the upper right-hand corner. If you have any trouble finding these locations, please let us know.

Windows:
C:// -> Users -> USERNAMEHERE -> App Data Roaming* -> IK Multimedia -> Application Name
*Make sure to enable hidden files under the "View" tab of your file explorer to see this location.

We hope this response has sufficiently answered your questions. If you still have any question, interests, or concerns, please reply to this email and an agent will get back to you as soon as possible. Please make sure to reply to this email and do not open another support ticket.

Bro, I was just gonna ask you how that was working out, and I see that you posted this 2 minutes ago. Sorry that it's such a pain. Sounds like that company is run by the engineers, and that usually equals a pain in the ass to use.

I admit I'm no computer guru but I was not expecting this much trouble.

so you’re kinda stuck with the generic compressor, gate, 2 reverb types and 2 delay types in Tonex when using the peda in the real world—there’s no way to save 3rd party fx plug ins (sunset verb/echoplex) to the pedal.

if you purchase those fx through T-Rack 6, those fx would only be available as plug ins you can import into your preset chain while editing in Amplitube (and not in the native Tonex app/editor) on your computer ala typical DAW session?

makes sense why people playing Tonex live treat them more like just an amp and customize their pedalboards with drives of choice in front and verb/delay/mod of choice in back.

i guess i was expecting i could have the entire customized 78/79 sounds including echoplex and sunset sound reverb storable in the pedal to take on the road.

Can’t you go thru the product manager and download it? It is slow, but mine downloaded it eventually and worked. A couole times it needed the download restarted. But it worked.

You can only put the sounds from the ToneX application into the ToneX pedal. Anything from Amplitube or T-Racks are totally different plugins.

Think of ToneX as only an amp capture device with a few bonus effects. It is not a full multi-effects unit like many of the others.

If you bypass the cab to run through an actual amp make sure it is a DI capture with a separate IR. If it is sound with a baked in cab, they never sound right when you try to bypass the cab.

When I downloaded through the product manager it kept pausing and failing. At about 30% downloaded three times in a row it would actually just completely stop and I would have to start all over.

I'll have more time to mess with all this again next week.

I think this may be the root cause of your issue. If it doesn't back out on its own let it sit. Sometimes with these installers the proper cleanup procedure doesn't run until after everything has been installed which can cause issues upon re-installation. Deleting and starting fresh manually usually fixes it, but that's why its best to let it do its thing if possible.

I have like 50 different IK programs installed and I have never had any of these issues. Just let the IK Product Manager do everything.

Alrighty Gents.... I clicked on the ToneX SE today and nothing happened immediately, so I got busy with something else, I came back and there it was displayed like it loaded but it said it was not authorized and to log onto IK Product Manager. So I closed ToneX SE and logged onto my IK Product Manager and then opened ToneX SE and it seem to load correctly this time, so I plugged in my interface into the USB and set up the parameters on the ToneX SE pulldown window for the connection/interface and Walla I got some audio guitar sounds thru the default JCM800 model on ToneX SE and that one was kinda blah but it worked......:p

I still did not see my 78/ 79 models anywhere so I read up on reloading/recover purchases clicked it and it downloaded for a bit and walla.....my 78/79 showed up in my directory on the left hand side and I have been jamming through all the 78/79 models for the last two hours. I have a couple of favorites so far, the Set to Explode Bright 78V and Feeling Loved Bright 78 V, turning on the delay post and plate reverb is a nice touch.

As this is my first digital guitar/ amp experience I do feel somewhat disconnected as a player and the interaction between me , the amp and speaker cabs is not there but the audio is quite good and quite representative on how my 68 Ed spec sounds variaced the same with the same signal chains. I'm still learning my way around on it but so far it's pretty fun for the $200 bucks I spent. I don't know if I could play out with a setup like this or not but I have to say the models sound and respond like my 68 amp variaced and cranked.

Hopefully this helps Mentoneman and otheres getting his to function correctly.....

Hey Mentoneman the other models were pretty generic sounding compared to the 78/79 models sound quality, so you might not want to take that into consideration.

For me this definitely does not replace what I have with my amps but it's a cool toy for the investment. So do you need to be logged on to you IK product manager every time before you open your ToneX SE???? It seemed like it needed to synch with the IK product manager realtime from the internet connection for some reason?????

I have Klipsch THX monitors and they sound pretty good but I wonder if different actual studio quality monitor speakers would sound better???

Either way all of the different models on 78/79 package are cool and the sound quality does represent a cranked, variaced 68 plexi through Marshall 4x12 cabs with celestion 20 and 25 watt speakers, the pinched harmonics do fly off the fretboard, plexi clankiness and the harmonic overtones from the plexi models are pleasing and quite correct sounding.:2thumbsup:

Hey JohnnyGTR, like I said it's a different experience but I think if your download goes better than mine you might find it pretty fun to jam on for $200 buck all in investment. Hopefully everything works tomorrow and the next day like it did today.

Thanks for all the insights and suggestions, they were all appreciated. Like I said I'm not sure exactly what seemed to get this working so I explained everything I did if it helps someone else in the same process that is having difficulties.

Right on. 👍

As far as feeling disconnected, try lowering the buffer size of the sound card as low as it will go without glitching. That will lower the latency and seem more immediate.

I don't think that you need to connect to the Product Manager every time, but if you're 78/79 isn't in your list, then just hit restore purchases and you're good then.

I think it's at 480 right now, when I was setting up the interface parameters. It that adjusted on ToneX SE or on my computer settings? What window do I pull up for that?

It's in the audio device preferences. Mine defaulted to 512 but I think that I got it down to 128 without glitching.

I'm looking around on in my setting section I'm not seeing anything to adjust. Is that adjusted on ToneX SE like when I configured the interface???

Last pulldown in this menu. Mine pops up every time I launch Tonex because I didn't check the "don't show again" box since I toggle between multiple audio interfaces.

Ok my audio setting just popped up after I clicked on my desktop IK Axe I/O one icon. The only audio buffer speed lower was 256 so I clicked it and wow it made a big difference??? I tried to type in a lower setting below 256 and it would not let me. But I can probably live with 256 for now.

Is there a way to directly access the audio setting screen from ToneX SE my display doesn't showing anything, I just assumed it popped up when I clicked the AXE I/O one icon on my desktop

Seems like I have to click the modeler tab on the upper left and then go back to home for my audio setting window to pop up.... is there a more direct way to access it? On my audio settings it shows my Axe I/O one as the input device and 256 is the lowest possible. 256 made a great difference already , thanks!:2thumbsup:
