You know I'm bagging Trump out because I don't like what he's doing - but if I was an American I still wouldn't have voted Democrat. That's even worse! Although maybe not for us... It's like asking is half a bag of turds worse than a bag of turds.

No, he got 49.8% of the votes. Not the majority. It's really not difficult. I'm not arguing that he didn't win.
You have to realize that in the US most people don't vote to begin with. There is your majority. Close to 90 million didn't vote in 2024. We won by a landslide.

The apathetic non voters. It's sad honestly.

So in actual fact, 31.8% of eligible voters voted for Trump. Nowhere near a majority.
(64% x 49.8%)

Unload your criticisms brother. I have never even registered. A) because if my vote mattered, it would be illegal and B) because I don't trust politicians per my life experience with corruption even at the small town local level and C) because I don't want to impose my will on others and lastly D) because they run campaigns on my taxes telling me to vote which are guaranteed to make me not want to vote. I guess I could throw in E) I'd rather be playing guitar than wasting time standing in line.

Well in Australia only 34.56% of voters voted for Labor and we have compulsory voting. Labor still won by a landslide (due to a protest against Trump I might add). So surely that's worse.

Parliamentary system. Different scenario. Labour governs with the consent of the House right?

Parliamentary system.
First thing I think of is a dude dressed like this:

Fair enough. No one can force you to vote. My opinion is that democracy, flawed as it is, is a rare and precious thing in historical terms. Our ancestors fought and died for our right to vote. I've voted in every election that I have been eligible to since I turned 18. But no worries brother, I still love you.

Conservative americans do not believe in compulsory stuff like voting, that's the mark of a socialist country.
Compulsory voting does not = socialism. Socialism means the government takes care of certain basic needs of the people.

Who cares about americans - they are wankers. This is Australia. it's our tradition and therefore conservative here.

Yes I know what socialism is and many socialist countries have compulsory voting. Forcing someone to participate in a political system they do not wish to under threats of legal action isn't something a free nation would do.

It's 101 years old, does that make it a tradition? What defines a tradition? A legal document demanding compulsory voting? LOL
