The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that the OBBBA will cut federal spending on Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) benefits by $1.02 trillion, due in part to eliminating at least 10.5 million people from the programs by 2034.

The cuts are non citizens and work requirements for the able bodied. As well as making states responsible for accurately assessing fraud by disincentivizing them from inaccurately reporting the numbers. In other words, now THEY will have to pay for it instead of the federal government.
