Friedman Jose Wait List

Probably wouldn't be my favorite Friedman amp but I'm really glad for Dave and his company...

Noticing people selling them at their cost already... Not taking this as a great sign.
Yeah I'm cautiously optimistic. That's why I'm not rushing to buy and I'll wait my turn (on the list).

Some probably had GAS and realized it's close enough compared to whatever they're running and others maybe wanted to make some profit. To each their own.

Yeah, I think you'll be able to recover all your money for at least the rest of the year if you decide it's not worth keeping.

I bought one, and "flipped" it, if you want to call it that. Awesome amp, but I have others that are "close enough" for me. This amp has been the only amp I've gassed hard enough to buy brand new in a LOOONG time and I'm really glad I got to try it. Figured I'd sell it while the hype was still there and I could recoup all my money. I can tell you for a fact that the people listing for $4K-ish aren't making much money (if any). I listed mine for $4140 + $150 flat rate shipping (double boxed, with stuff I already had so no cost there). After fees, Reverb sent $3927.21 to my bank. Original cost was $3799 and shipping cost me $115.02, for a grand total of $3914.02. I netted a whopping $13.19, and if I count my time.. I lost money, no doubt.

It was 100% worth it though.

Even if I like it, if it's not on par with my Hellion or Skeleton Key, I imagine I'll be putting it on the block in short order. But I won't be pricing it at $4k+.

Turns out this was the case!

Check the classifieds.

Ugh this is convincing me to not get it since I have both a SK and Hellion. How similar was it? Like same tones, or just not as good as those two?

It’s closer to the SK…. But a less modern take. Not as much gain and a little rounder in the lows. It’d be a keeper if I didn’t have those other amps

I got my Jose today! I put my name on the list pretty early-if not right away…but I don’t remember exactly when.

Was stupid busy with work today so only a few minutes to turn it on and quickly dial it. (And only an iPhone in the room-sorry. :)

Congrats!

Sounds like there's a ton of gain on tap if you want it.

If any of yall are in the nyc area, feel free to come try it- I wasn’t expecting it to be a keeper but for now it definitely is- really great feel and sound and more harmonic depth than anything else I’ve played

It does sound exponentially better when it gets really loud so might not be good for people who can’t crank amps

They've literally already sold more of these than most of the boutique guys on here have sold in the existence of their companies... yet nobody worries when somebody flips one of them
Boutique guys are one thing... This had "the kitchen sink" thrown in it... Should deliver the goods and for the price which is pretty fair you'd think they would turn loose of something else other than a one time, limited production of an amp with so much meaning behind it.

We all have done what you're eluding too... "I gotta try that!!!" This amp to me seemed much more sacred that guys turning them around the same day to me just has me thinking. Usually we take a few weeks, try different cabs etc... Half these dudes have made mention of just getting it, 1 hour playtime etc.

I’ve heard plenty of people say it does deliver the goods. I personally love the clips I’ve heard and mine is coming tomorrow. Most of the people that have flipped theirs’ already have said A. they have amps that cover the same ground already or B. something else they need to pay for or C. were expecting something modern like the flavor of the moment high gainers out there. This amp was never supposed to be that. Dave outright said it’s basically a tribute to the OG of modded Marshall. An antique if you will.Think classic hard rock to LA metal to early 80’s thrash. I’m an older guy and what Dave made here is exactly in my wheelhouse. It’s not going to be for everyone. So I certainly won’t base my opinion on a couple of early flippers. They’re everywhere. Some people just like to try things and move it on to get the next new thing. I have a pedal company, I know all about flippers. Does that make my product bad? Absolutely not.

I’m enjoying mine. I normally play the Ultra Uber, Synergy Uber, XTX 20th and Diezel Hagen the most. This is different enough and I think will blend well in recordings.

How are you liking the UU?

You're reading too much into it. You're also wrong about it being limited production. It's not. At all. There are just a shitload of people that want one so they're being sold as soon they're produced. By this point I would guess they've shipped a couple of hundred amps, if not more.

I've got one, it is exactly as advertised.

Bro, please record something! Still waiting for an inspirational demo!

I got on the waitlist, don't remember when, but not going to buy. I was super jazzed when I heard about this because I've never had any Jose-inspired amp but I don't need a huge tube amp anymore. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for me as I'd be playing it at bedroom levels. I gig but I'd never take this out to a gig.

I think it is an awesome sounding amp eith great features. Just can't justify it.
