Anyone still digging their Guv´nor pedal?

Hi guys, I´m not much of a pedal guy but I came across this the other day and figured it might be nice to have around. Gary Moore did OK with his, you know 😄 Anyway, I think it is pretty cool, you can really get a crunchy channel singing like crazy with it and it has a nice voicing. I think it sounds better than the typical fare of Tubescreamers when you want the pedal to add some overdrive of its own, but as a booster I don´t think I´ll be reaching for it.

Absolutely, I´ve tried it with a ´75 Super Lead and the crunch channel of a Soldano so far. The Marshall really gobbled it up anywhere you dialed the Guvnor, but with the Soldano you had to roll out a bit of the bass knob since it´s voiced a lot thicker.

It works as a booster but you def cannot crank the gain or it gets wooly and too much. Perfect companion with an 800 and passive pickups. But yeah, there are a zillion other boosts that do as good or better. It does compliment the Marshall drive nicely though. Feels enough like an extension of the amp.

Yeah, there is a big zone there where it´s sort of a boost and sort of a traditional overdrive at the same time. It really does sound better with a bit of gain dialed in and not just doing an EQ curve and level boosting. Splitting hairs, I suppose, but it cooks with an overdriven amp.

Great pedal. I got mine inspired by Bill Steer's influence more than Gary though. Nice and tight for low tuned stuff.
Sounds great with my VH4 too, which can be picky about drive pedals in front.
