Hi guys, I´m not much of a pedal guy but I came across this the other day and figured it might be nice to have around. Gary Moore did OK with his, you know 😄 Anyway, I think it is pretty cool, you can really get a crunchy channel singing like crazy with it and it has a nice voicing. I think it sounds better than the typical fare of Tubescreamers when you want the pedal to add some overdrive of its own, but as a booster I don´t think I´ll be reaching for it.

Absolutely, I´ve tried it with a ´75 Super Lead and the crunch channel of a Soldano so far. The Marshall really gobbled it up anywhere you dialed the Guvnor, but with the Soldano you had to roll out a bit of the bass knob since it´s voiced a lot thicker.

It works as a booster but you def cannot crank the gain or it gets wooly and too much. Perfect companion with an 800 and passive pickups. But yeah, there are a zillion other boosts that do as good or better. It does compliment the Marshall drive nicely though. Feels enough like an extension of the amp.

Yeah, there is a big zone there where it´s sort of a boost and sort of a traditional overdrive at the same time. It really does sound better with a bit of gain dialed in and not just doing an EQ curve and level boosting. Splitting hairs, I suppose, but it cooks with an overdriven amp.

Great pedal. I got mine inspired by Bill Steer's influence more than Gary though. Nice and tight for low tuned stuff.
Sounds great with my VH4 too, which can be picky about drive pedals in front.

I use my og guvnor with a 2203 and bandmaster rev.Works great with those amps.

Tried it with a José-style amp last night, that one can be a bit picky with boosts and ODs since the preamp is so lean in the bass to begin with... a Tubescreamer just sounds like an old squawky telephone... but the Guvnor was pretty cool when you left some lows in on the dial.

Not sure if I mentioned it but I had the version that Wayne built. I sniped right before another member got it. He sent me a message saying if I decided to get rid of it he wanted it. I just wanted to try it out because I’m boost poor so after playing with it awhile I sold it to dude. Not sure how the og pedal is but Wayne’s version was excellent. Really makes me want to try a shredmaster…cause you know…I’m a shredmaster…

Shredmasters are pretty cool .... I had an original when they came out .... I've built several in the last few years ... they sound even better with quality components .

I loved mine, it worked great with a bunch of the Marshalls I had then, until I loaned it to someone and they kept it so long I forgot who I loaned it to..

Dam them

Supposedly Gary ran it into the crunch channel of the SLO . That's possibly what he`s doing here

I've always wanted to try a Guv'nor, mostly because of Carcass, but it seems like a super flexible boost/drive/distortion
