Saw them live at the Melkweg in Amsterdam in 1997, high as a kite. One of my most metal memories. We were strolling aimlessly around the city center with my girlfriend, smoking doobies after doobies all afternoon when, by total chance, I saw a poster on a wall announcing the concert that very evening. We slowly went to the venue, in a total brain fog, bought some tickets and went straight in. Everything was simple at the time. No internet, no $300 tickets, no need to book 6 months in advance, no nothing LOL The venue itself was amazing, all industrial and metal, like some kind of steam-punk abandoned factory, a bit like the AC/DC Thunderstruck video (see pic below). The whole audience smoking, band playing mercilessly in a giant cloud a MJ... What a trip !!

I saw them on that tour with Nuclear Assault and Savatage as the opener. Great show.
Chuck Billy is and always has been the man. Best thrash singer ever, and a damn good writer too. The rest of the band are just as bad ass throughout their various lineups, but I have a soft spot for the OG group.

Like I said above, I saw them at the Cuban Club in Ybor City on that tour. Amazing show. The pits for Nuclear Assault and Testament were brutal. I climbed up the left side speaker tower cage and was hanging off it headbanging and thrashing around easily 10'+ over the stage, and Chuck Billy was singing his ass off pointing at me and thrashing the fuck out too singing "Over The Wall" iirc. Eventually the guards came telling me to climb down, and I just jumped off the tower into the crowd. Fucking great show.

If you really listen to their lyrics the politics have always been there. Chuck is an indigenous American, and he's never hidden what his views are.

He was a good kid that worked for me. I had him do an outside job that was going to take a little bit. He was like damn I wish I had something to listen to. I gave him my Walkman and I had that cassette in it. He came back in and was like who are they? They are awesome… I said great…now suck my cock….

Yikes glad I missed it. All musicians should always and forever STFU about politics unless it comes in the form of an amazing song. The world was much more enjoyable when the only thing we knew about a guitar player was based on his answers in a Guitar World interview. Or Guitar Player, if you were in your 50s back then.

It sucks, because it isnt about agreeing or disagreeing with him, its about the optics of him coming across like a complete dipshit
I guess when you are blessed with guitar prowess like alex skolnick, god had to make you a fucking moron in other facets of life
