The Tube Store Kills all USA Shipping

There already is a system in place for carriers to collect and remit tariffs. If carriers are able to collect and remit taxes on something that's valued OVER $800, then they can certainly do it for items valued UNDER $800 as well.
I didn't say the system wasn't in place. I said the system needs to be updated, tested, vetted, documentation created to handle the adjustment, an increase in staffing and training to handle the increased load, and so on. There's more than one path way that is possible to take, too, so that needs to be accounted for. This is all done electronically and in code. These systems, especially government ones which tend to have weaker coders, are extremely fragile as-is.

Got an email that you can no longer order tubes from the tube store. They aren’t shipping Us orders anymore due to tariffs.

What are some reliable tube sources for tubes? That’s where I order most of mine.
Me :D

But shipping will cost quite some :(

Just vibe code it, no one needs actual programmers anymore. The AI can role-play as shipping companies too, for testing. \s

The extremely silly part of all of this is those countries' mail carriers are saying they're halting shipments because they, "don't know how to handle the paperwork" that's required for items that incur tariffs or duties. But that's obviously complete nonsense because they certainly know how to handle it for packages valued over $800. And yet, they can't simply apply the same standards to packages valued under $800 now? What's the issue? Someone ships a pair of shoes valued at $120 from Italy to NYC and suddenly the post office is like, "Duuuhhhh deeeerrr what do I dooo??" I'm not buying that excuse.
We can assume it's political.

I would avoid Nesstone. I ordered $500+ in tubes from Craig a while ago. One KT88 and one EL34 were DOA. Granted I did not discover these issues until the return window expired, but I emailed him asking for help. He responded saying yes he'd help me out and then just ghosted me. Several follow-up emails and no response.

Lesson: test your tubes upon receipt!

I’ve heard nothing but bad from Nesstone. My opinion is that he buys bad grade tubes at discount and resells or doesn’t test what he sells and buys in bulk. And yes I have bought from him in the past. One of the tubes I ordered from him literally shattered in my amp from glass defects.

Got this email today.

I am another dissatisfied Nesstone customer. Shitty matching (i.e. not matched at all) and wouldn’t make it right. Was a dick about it.

I guess I'll just buy from American companies or use a SS amp, or just start playing more harmonica. Time goes on.

I don't think the carriers want to deal with the support load of millions of pissed off people suddenly getting hit with tariff and/or customs bills that they didn't even know applied, or didn't apply when they ordered it. FedEx delivers without collecting and sends you a bill in the mail later - tons of people would just ignore those bills since the package is already in their hands so FedEx wouldn't get reimbursed. Carriers that do collect on delivery would be greatly slowed down when way more packages require collecting and people would start rejecting packages when they see a bill that multiplies the cost of their purchase, so the carrier's stuck dealing with those packages. The whole system's designed to work for the relatively small number of >$800 packages that people really care about rather than the mountains of cheap ones.

But where do you think the American companies get their tubes from? Very few are made in the USA
