Just when you thought you’ve seen it all

First time I heard about this was when Roger Bell told me about it. Hard to ignore any advice from that dude, he’s the OG tech to the OG’s, Page, Townsend, Lemmy, Sykes, Beck, Angus, Zevon, Betts, Maiden, John Paul Jones, Frehley, Eastman an endless fucking list of the greats. The pics that dude posts on FB should be in a book. He’s the dude who got Slash and Zakk hooked up with Gibson back in the day and his last gig was tech’ing for Vai in the 90’s.

Alas, there’s 10,000,000 other things I should do to improve my playing/sound before cable direction comes into play.

There is definitely something to be said about different brands of cables and connectors in relation to tonal changes (more/less gain, etc).

The directional thing to me seems more like the pranks we played on music stores as kids, like left handed drumsticks, guitar strings, and picks, or skin flutes

I used to have a Planet Waves cable that had a icon for guitar on one side and the amp on the other. I just ignored that bullshit.

Ah, so the fragile harmonics survive in a vacuum but not in the crystal lattice of a solid state amp. Here I thought crystal lattice was a tube thing. Learn something new every day.

It happens to those unwilling to give your spirt to the Neo-Soul... its ok... you will survive

25 Page thread... I'm losing brain cells...

it's a fooking cable...

2 conductor at that...

oh wait, the logic of basic electric theory is clouding my Neo-Soul being....

When I worked at Guitar Center, we had a young guy in accessories that was doing well and was poised to take over the world. I told him he needed to call back to the store manager's office and ask him if he could order in a few left handed guitar fx processors since he was selling some things that weren't as common of a sale. I convinced him they were a real thing and he called back to the office asking if he could order in some left handed fx processors so he could sell some.

Those would sell. Just convince people the input and all buttons in reverse actually affects latency. Then sell them the lefty Monster gold plated cables.

Someone should make "directional" instrument cables by putting arrows on the ends indicating the signal direction; charge 5x or more in price and ka-ching!

Before my permaban from TGP many years ago, I remember a discussion, maybe more than one, on power cords and how they can change your tone / improve your tone.
Improve your tone? That page is weird.

If they mean, changes it, yes.... Playing a barre chord as opposed to the open variant DOES sound different. Better? Depends on the context it is used in.
