Have used PS and TAE for years now!! No Problemo!!!
All I am saying by butting into these threads is that my 7yr daily experience with this thing has been flawless and game changing. I do understand some believe a guy needed to replace an OT in a Wizard and blamed it on the TAE (not sure what him 'being here' has to do with anything). OK, so one (anonymous) guy had a $300 repair he attempted to get a warrantee check for and I'm supposed to ignore a once in a generation device? What this box allows you to do with your rig is unparalleled, which I guess explains the shade thrown at it. Pete Thorn and Joe Bonamassa use them live for a reason. You guys are missing outWrong.
The user of the Wizard was here, and there was a thread on it. Listen, I was intrigued by the TAE and have used Boss stuff for years. Still do. But, the biggest most important part of my 69 Plexi is the OT.
No chance I risk it. The Fryette PS2A works and sounds fantastic.
I'm good.

I have a PS100. Bought new maybe 5 years ago and it is the most transparent reamper/attenuator. Some amps don't like it like the Wizard. I always use a real cabinet with it.Just to mention; I had a PS100 5 yrs ago or so. Hated the way it 'squished' the tone as an attenuator. Returned it fast.
Recently bought a PS2A, and the difference is night/day in the attenuated tone. Like not even related to the PS100 experience I had. PS2A is MUCH better than the PS100 in that regard.
Mainly 2 integrated compressors, 5 integrated delays, 5 integrated reverbs, 2 EQs/boosts, amp control, 10 IR slots and all MIDI controllable. What am I missing out on?
My man I don't push crap I like on anyone. In this case I feel like people dismiss this thing out of hand and for those of us who take our gear out and gig it is incredibly helpful. We are a small community--one isolated unverified issue and you'd think there were amps spontaneously combusting everywhere. They aren't.A very unhappy Rick![]()
A few yrs back, a RTer had a Wizard MC or MTL OT fry on him while using a Boss TAE attenuator. There was a thread on it. He ended up getting Sweetwater to take the unit back and agree that it had failed. Boss wouldn't respond to him. He ended up sending his Wiz back to Rick for a new OT, for around 1500 at his expense. A few others had some issues, if I remember right a HiWatt, another Wizard and a few old Marshalls all lost their OT while using a Boss TAE.What am I missing out on?
I never used a Wizard with any attenuator. I bought the PS100, and a resistive attenuator when I got my 72 SL. That amp, and my 69 Plexi like attenuators just fine. But, the PS100 I had 6 yrs ago squished the tone in a weird way, didn't care for it so returned it. The PS2A I just got sounds MUCH better to my ears...almost spot on to the resistive attenuator that sounds great but heats up WAY too much for my taste.I have a PS100. Same vague, unfounded line we see every time the TAE is mentioned. If I blow a tranny...wait...you know what I mean...I'll be sure and put my name next to the claim. Like real people do.A few others had some issues, if I remember right a HiWatt, another Wizard and a few old Marshalls all lost their OT while using a Boss TAE.
Ok Boss Cheerleader. You do you.Same vague, unfounded line we see every time the TAE is mentioned. If I blow a tranny...wait...you know what I mean...I'll be sure and put my name next to the claim. Like real people do.
Zero incentive for me to do that? You posted the same threads you mentioned initially, the guy with the Wizard. I get it, you believe him. I don’t. I have the unit and am well aware how mistakes can be made, you need to pay attention. Same with the PS. If the TAE fried amps there would be minimum hundreds of warranty claims out there—we would all know about it. Not one anonymous randoOk Boss Cheerleader. You do you.
Don't believe me that someone on this very forum fried an OT using the TAE?
Ok.
Happy for you.
Im sure that is cool and all, but I don’t have a need for any of that. Plus I get option paralysis with too much stuffMainly 2 integrated compressors, 5 integrated delays, 5 integrated reverbs, 2 EQs/boosts, amp control, 10 IR slots and all MIDI controllable.
My MC1 works with all my attenuators. Others may be different I suppose.I have a PS100. Bought new maybe 5 years ago and it is the most transparent reamper/attenuator. Some amps don't like it like the Wizard. I always use a real cabinet with it.
I’m with you, I’m simple. I don’t want to run 4 x 20’ cables from my rig to my board but I want to be able to use time based fx—even with a channel switcher—after my amp rather than before. I can do that. Plus I don’t want to carry a delay or reverb pedal. When I gig it’s just my Wizard and an old RP1000. Using the PS2 with the old Marshalls, just a small pedalboard, some in front and some in the PS2 loop. I still use a cab live.
I wonder what the difference could be between the PS100 you had and the PS2A?I never used a Wizard with any attenuator. I bought the PS100, and a resistive attenuator when I got my 72 SL.
