I Crashed Pretty Hard

How you feeling this morning? Can’t sleep in a hospital for shit…. They overdosed me on liquid muscle relaxers once and they came in there every time I fell asleep to force oxygen in me…. I was so pissed…. Guess it’s better than asphyxiation though….

Ughhhhh. Hate to hear that and speedy recovery!

That’s also why I gave up on my mountain bikes. I’ll still do some flow trails but no big jumps or drops for me any more. Had a simple OTB at like 4mph and was laid up for two weeks
Contrast that with my biggest auto racing incident where I went into a wall at >60 and rolled…was back out on track again later that afternoon thanks to all my safety gear. My wallet hurt a little more from that one, and there is no graceful way to unbuckle while upside down, but I’ll take my roll cages any day now!

Rough night. Still breathing shallow. I didn't take any drugs. I got some sleep, but I was up and down. I'm about to eat for the first time in 20 hrs. We'll see how that goes.

Yikes, hope you have a quick recovery. I gave up the mountain bike thing before I got hurt. It’s alot of fun though.

Sorry to hear, hope you heal up quickly. Those ribs are going to be sore for a while.

Lions Mane mushrooms have been known to speed injury repair.

Sorry to hear about your off. Quick healing. That's why I gave it up. The risk/reward scale was nowhere near balanced at this stage in my life.

The older you get, the more it hurts.

That's why I bought a Yamaha SXS, I call it Chair Force One.

That sounds absolutely brutal. Seems to be a blessing that you were able to walk back out to get help. Praying for ya! Try to take it as easy as possible.

+1 it would have been even worse had your vitals tanked huffing it on the way out all alone. Just glad you’re alive and safe and not on a missing persons list struggling in the middle of nowhere.

Glad you are on the mend. I crashed last year and took a handle bar end to the sternum. Took about three months to recover from that one....oof!

My last crash earlier this year was all strawberries to the knees and right elbow ..

Yes, takes longer to recover as you get older, but I love mountain biking regardless of the dangers...

You'll be up in no time...

I hope you get well soon, broken rids are very painful.

I went over the handle bars on my mountain bike 2 years ago and broke both bones in my left arm, got a plate on the ulna bone. Took some time, but I am playing guitar like the accident never happened. I had my seat too high.

Good news is broken ribs is minor injury with no risk of serious consequences of any kind. Bad news is it's gonna hurt like hell for awhile and then it can (not always) hurt less but for a long time. Friend of mine broke ribs while biking and the last pain remains took three years to completely disappear. Good luck !

Brutal! I hope you have a quick recovery! The best part about a cracked or broken rib is every breath lets you know you're alive. I once dropped about ten feet on a bmx bike on a big sandhill but fortunately my nuts broke my fall against the cross bar of the bike's frame so I can't say I've experience the same pain.
