As we know the Ukraine Russia thing has been ongoing and then Trump gets office and it looks like it's going to end.

Trump made it perfectly clear he could see the thieving and lying grifter in Zelensky and what Putin was wanting was reasonable.

Trump goes to the UK recently and meets with Charlie and then returns and completely turns on Putin and Russia. A new narrative is created and Vance is out there pushing it too.

"Moscow has turned down trilateral talks with Washington and Kiev, according to the US vice president" and then Moscow doubles down on their position and open offer and nothing is mentioned about that here.

Moscow has maintained that it is ready and willing to settle the Ukraine conflict via diplomatic means.

Are we now getting far closer to a real war with nukes possibly as the sanctions against Russia have done nothing and in fact Russia has prospered since the sanctions.
Russia can't be affected so all that's left is a war and it looks like it's getting closer than ever.

I was not aware of any new overtures from Russia, just same ol' same ol'. Could Putin have embarrassed Trump (I'll end the war on day one!) enough to result in a complete reversal of Trump's views on Putin. Did Trump seriously think he could sway Putin that easily (and quickly)?

You're exactly right about sanctions having no effect, Putin is not bothered in the least what the west does in that respect sooo....what will actually get Putin's attention? And how far will he go in the meantime?
I think everyone knows what he wants in the end: every member of the former USSR coming back under the influence of Moscow. And what will he do to achieve that?

I've watched many interviews with Putin and the one with Tucker was fantastic.

I'm not aware of a leader who is as intelligent and transparent as Putin. He says many times over that he and Russia want to be left alone to do what they need to do in their own country.

Threatening him or native Russian speaking people for no apparent reason is unacceptable to him and let's be fair, it's not acceptable to anyone. We wouldn't stand for it and we didn't, look at Cuba and they're still blacklisted for it as we don't forgive. Why would Putin in 2025 want NATO looming over his country looking for an excuse to get their hands on the $75 trillion of natural resources Russia has...without Ukraine.

Russia has no desire or reason to go beyond their own borders. They keep saying it to the Euro and US press but it's never repeated to the citizens of those countries.

I can assure you, Putin has zero interest and is not bringing back the USSR in any sense of the word.

How many people realise that without Russia's ongoing help there is no NASA in space. Not bad for the Devil...is it.

IMHO this is the reason Trump's shifting his stance; he's simply running out of patience with Putin.

He's said many times that he doesn't feel Putin is serious about ending the incursion and this is the logical consequence - the imminent ramping up of sanctions.

BRICS will continue to slowly expand; a gold or commodities based currency is one of their plans; not too different than Gaddafi's plan to create a single, gold-backed African currency, the "gold dinar"; which led to his overthrow and death with the help of France, UK and US. The pan-African gold dinar threatened European, primarily French, control and monetization of Africa's natural wealth.

A few years later, we saw western African nations finally pushback against France; starting with Mali, Burkina Faso, etc.

The French CFA franc currency, a currency pegged to the euro with reserves held in the French Treasury, and preferential trade agreements for raw materials and markets. While formal colonial rule ended, France used cooperation accords, military support, and private business networks to secure economic access to resources like minerals and maintain a favorable trade balance, a system viewed by many as neo-colonialism.

France uses this CFA system to maintain control of the flow / prices of west African natural resources, while depressing the economies of these west African countries. It's blatant, but France is paying the price as millions of West Africans flood and invade France undermining French society, safety and increasing criminal activities.

It's unclear how much the French economy depends on exploitation of Africa's natural resources, and people; with the help of the leaders and military of these countries.

Back to BRICS, the US and Europe are attempting to do the same thing to BRICS but it's not working; European economies are not doing well, and are slowly collapsing; civil unrest from millions of invaders will lead to internal conflicts further damaging European industries and economies, once Europe economies collapse, the BRICS economies will fill the gap with little US influence over the outcomes.
