I have put a 57 in front of it a greenback loaded AX cab enough times to know mic'ing the speakers in the angled part is not the way. When I mic'ed them like that the recorded tone was quite like the tone Ola was getting in that video. Thin, lacking beef, and harsher highs. I would never allow a soundman or stage hand to mic my cab like that. It's a greenhorn move.Meh, the internal volume of the cab is shared and heard regardless of a coupla of inches of inward slanted baffle. That cab is also the TV model (tall vintage) so it's a bigger cab.

Dude. We all have our limitations. I mean, I sound like crap with left handed guitar stringsI am so confused, where did this idea that you can't mic the angled part of the cab come from?
Is this like an actual thing, or did someone on the internet make it up?
It honestly sounds like something that got made up on the internet.

And I thought it was the left handed cigarettes fucking up my playing.Dude. We all have our limitations. I mean, I sound like crap with left handed guitar strings
Definitely have heard this… like a lot lolHave you heard this before??! How did I miss this bit of homespun wisdom after spending all my my adult life recording guitars?!
Actually, that mid character of the top speakers is because of the extra bracing according to Steve Fryette. I think Nolly is wrong on that one.Didn't Nolly say the top speakers were always his go-to for micing because speakers parallel to the rear wall get a buildup of low mids and a cancellation of very-slightly-higher mids?
lol except here’s the actual recording set up
