Thank you for your considerate reply and concessions my brother.That's cleared up. He got a ban for pedo accusations back in July, but (as far as I'm aware) never received one for his recent racist remarks toward Saddle.
I'm going to have to disagree with you in one aspect here. You're leaving out context which leaves little grey area. Just because you substitute "the n word" for the actual word, the context can still make it a racial slur.
For examples:
Saying "Did you read the book that has the N word in it?" is not racism. You can interchange "the N word" or the actual term and it's not racism because it's in the context of being a reference.
Saying "You are the N word" is still blatant racism. Substituting "the N word" for the actual word doesn't remove the context of being a racial slur.
RGX has continued doing the latter.
By only looking at the word(s) used and putting aside context, it leave the door wide open for anyone to get away with blatant racism by substituting letters/acronyms for the actual word.
I wasn't directing any accusations of non-transparency at you. You're pretty transparent on why you make certain decisions. I meant it as we don't see that mods are discussing things behind the scenes in reference to Dan mentioning you guys have talked about this several times. I probably could have been more clear on that. We usually get an explanation on a final outcome, but if an issue spans several weeks/months or gets multiple complaints we rarely get a hey guys we acknowledge events and we're discussing what to do. Without that, surface/public level it appears things are not being addressed or worse case ignored. That's not the best look for mods to have.
I edited my post to strikethrough "no hey not cool bro, no nothing" since you did somewhat address it. RGX made racist comments directed at Saddle across multiple threads to where you even had to search for which one it was addressed in, so hopefully you can see how that could easily be missed. My apologies for not seeing that and misspeaking.
I went back and reread that exchange you referenced to refresh. You may feel different, but I think the ball was dropped on this one. RGX got a simple don't do it again followed by his whataboutism and denial of being racist, then the exchange on what constitutes racism and finally dropped with no real resolution. It never went back around to fully addressing the infraction. Best was RGX begrudgingly saying he wouldn't use the word anymore; an in context just started substituting "the N word." Like I said you may feel differently, but IMO that's not really a proper resolution. Considering the infraction spanned multiple threads (and still continues) it really should have been followed up on. At minimum circling back to say RGX needs to issue an apology or face a ban; something along those lines.
Anyway, I've expressed my opinion and ultimately it's not in my hands to make decisions on the matter. I respect your view on things as you're able to see it all from a different perspective. I just hope you can understand my POV and not take any offence.
Of course I understand where you're coming from as I'm sure you know that I know what he means when he says "N".
Here's the thing 'though, and seeing as we're getting into the weeds now, if the word were illegal and he were in a court of law, he'd be fine 'cause he's not actually using it.
I agree it's not really a "proper resolution", as you put it, but consider the ramifications of taking your approach. For consistency, we'd have to figure out what everyone means every time he or she uses an abbreviation and whether or not there was any malice involved in his or her thinking. A hyperbolic scenario I know, but that's how I test logic, and it's not as hyperbolic as you might initially think.
An analogy:
Even the MSM is happy to say "the F word" and nobody's offended, and yet the presenters of the CNNs of this world will absolutely not use the word itself.
Another:
Practically nobody's offended if someone says he's a C word and yet we all know what it means. Make the accusation directly using the actual word and in most countries the recipient will absolutely be offended.
My point is that life's too-short and we're not paid enough, if I may put it facetiously, to be the local Thought Police™. Far-easier (and more-practical) to stick to the basics - you use the N word, you breaka da rules.
I'm sure all this makes sense to you; I just hope you understand that from my perspective there's an impractical, slippery slope involved here. If the Thought Police™ are employed in one instance, they'll be expected to be on-the-beat at all times / in all cases.
