Revisiting Synergy

This time out the Syn-50. Got the SLO II in there and the Marshall JMP on the way.
The head weighs as much as the SLO heads I’ve owned. Well built, nice transformers in there. I guess they account for the weight.
Anyway, works well, sounds great to me.
Always struggle with pedals into my cleaner amps, but this thing comes roaring out of the gate with lots of available gain, and it’s the easiest and best sounding setup I’ve used in the small room I keep some amps in.
I like it so much I’m actually considering the 20 W model for my two Friedman 1x12 cabinets.

I would like to try a SYN-50 to see how it sounds compared to my current version of a SYN-50. Rackmounted SYN-2 and PS-2!

Been wanting to try one of these out. I had the Randall head years ago when they first came out and kinda left a stain in my mouth

The Syn-50 is decent IMO. I A/Bed it with the Syn-20 and they sound about the same. Good bordering on great. I've always gotten better results with my 2/90/2 or 2150, but the Synergy heads are pretty convenient.

When used prices come down a bit more I'll probably grab another Syn-20.

Nice! I just got one too, love it. I can’t believe they are not more popular around here.

I have always been curious about the 50w heads also. I wonder how they would compare to my Syn-2 Rack.

Since it has big transformers, would you say it has a big sound with a lot of depth when you crank up the depth control?

That is my worry vs. a 100w amp. I like a huge chunky low end. I typically use my Syn-2 with a 200w rack Poweramp, or into a 100w head.

No idea. Half the reason I bought the thing was so I wouldn’t get my head ripped off in a small room. I don’t need tons of volume, and bands nowadays don’t need tons of stage volume anyway. 50 W heads are cool,IMO

It sounds pretty huge to me and I barely have the density turned up.

I played one and it sounded huge. There are some great modules for it. If you flip back and forth between a high end tube amp at volume, though, it is wanting imo.

Im trying to remember the modules I liked best. The pitbull module killed it. And the kali was good also
