Stratocaster Volume Knob

Have never liked where the volume knob is on the standard Stratocaster.

My hand always changes the volume while I play.

'I have always relocated the volume pot but don't want to bastardize all my Strats.

Any other tech options other than relocating the pot?

Rubber "O" rings. Cheap and effective. Get a variety pack and use what best works for you. Put it over the shaft then put the knob back on. Test the resistance. Not enough put a thicker one on.

At the time Leo thought it was a perfect. Do you constantly bump it?

Thanks, definitely going to try this.

O-rings work but have to be sized properly for function. I use a stacked 250K/500K volume pot. Not because I need the dual values, but because the pot while smooth, is also pretty stiff to turn. Anecdotal of course, but it’s working for me.

Some people use these, might try them.

Thanks for the link.

I actually tried those and they will indeed work. It’s also nice they’re roughly the same diameter as the volume knob for clean looks. But alas, they didn’t work for me because they also raise the knob higher off the pickguard which exacerbates the problem I have hitting the damn knob. It’s annoying.

Here’s a link to the pot in my strat. Again, anecdotal only because I can’t say these pots all have the same resistance.

I made a razor thin foam o-ring that’s sandwiched between the knob and body. It’s just enough friction to slow it down.
