Getting a new car

I enjoy my old, naturally aspirated, 6-cylinder, Porsche Boxster; mid-engine roadster is my favorite style of car. The nearest Porsche dealer is about an hour away, though we have some repair shops closer. While I haven't had any major reliability issues, it's over ten years old, and issues may arise....basically, I'm not ready to do a long drive down to the keys, or out to Texas or Louisiana, etc., in it.

I looked at the new Boxsters. The base model is now a 4-cylinder turbo; and to get the naturally aspirated 6-cylinder, you have to go to the Boxster GTS 4.0, which starts at $105,500. No thanks; at that price I can find a used Lamborghini Gallardo, then be back at square 1 with reliability concerns on long drives...and getting Lambo parts and service are even more challenging, with the nearest dealer over 4 hours away.

I went to my local Chevy dealer, and they have one I like on the way, 2026 Corvette Stingray, no need for the Z06 or ZR1, or the electric model, that are all over $100K...taking me back to used Lambo or Ferrari again.

It has an assigned VIN number which means it's at the factory awaiting shipping, so it could be here in a few days or several weeks. If I ordered what I wanted it could take several months, and orders for 2027 would open up by then.

I put down my deposit this morning. Silver / black interior. The only added options are the black rims (not my first choice, but not bad as they match with the black trim pieces), and the red painted calipers which I really don't like, but I can live with them...I'd like them more if the car had the red seats and black interior. Nothing fancy or over the top or attention grabbing.

The one thing I don't want are the ridiculous carbon fiber wings that look like an afterthought, and to me ruin the aesthetic flow of the car's design. I really think they should spend the effort to design a more integrated wing that looks like it was designed to be an integral, but optional, part of the car.

I think it's a good car. Faster than your Boxster, not BLAZING fast in base form but fast. Mid-engine if that appeals to you.

Too short for me though.

Congrats. I agree on the Stingray as far as bang for your buck/value equation. Definitely more comfortable for the daily. My father in law has a C7 Stingray. I like the 5 spoke rims better than other options they have. Why no red stripes over the front wheel wells? I love that look. I like your new car and wouldn't turn one down but personally would steer clear of the C8 only because of the mid engine aspect. I know I know, terrible reason

I like mid-engine cars, back in the '90s I had a Lotus Esprit Turbo, but rode my Hyabusa in the north Georgia mountains more than I used the Lotus.

The last Acura NSX, hybrid and all wheel drive was another consideration, but over $100K again.

In what way do find it "too short"?

Can't be by much :D
the seat adjusts. :D

I've had to do this in other cars; I usually lower the seat as far as it can go, then move the seat forward, then recline the back. Gives me another inch or two headroom without taking much legroom.

I also have plenty of room in the Boxster.
