I had a Poweball 1 that I got in a trade to try out and I didn’t care for that amp at all. My bandmate got a Morse and that amp was an absolute beast! Loved it!! I also love the tone Viv gets Out of the Blackmore!
Randall is in his mid 70s. Seems like he decided to cash out while he could still enjoy it. Hopefully he’ll still be involved for a while (as it says he will be), just on Gibson’s dime!
Great band and they do a fantastic job recreating the Led Zep live show vibe. I’ve gotten to open for them a number of times and they’re all great guys as well!
I’d go for the Axe Fx II based on what you’re looking for. If you like the FX8 for effects, the Axe II will give you the same effects and be rack mounted. I think the Axe III would be over kill for FX only and you can likely get a decent deal on the II with the announcement of the III.
The Fender built EVH branded 5150 cabs comes with EVH Celestions and are great cabs. The Peavey 5150 cabs come with Sheffields and are not worth $400 imo.
My Quick Rod has a TON of low end. Keep the Bass knob at around 10:00 or lower and it sounds perfect, any more than that and it sounds WAY too bass heavy. It seems odd to set my bass so low and opposite of how you set the EQ on many amps, but that’s where it sounds best to me. My Mid is set...
To be clear, only the Carvin Audio/Amps side has closed. The Kiesel/Carvin guitar side is not impacted by this as those two split into separate companies in 2015. The guitar side is alive and well.
