I have been thinking about this lately also. I have been super complicated the last year or two doing stereo. I am not a huge effects person, but going to mono lately made me realize how much all the stereo stuff was making my tone too thick. Like, there is less definition and clarity for my...
Yeah, I think the only reason the Fractal units go down in value is because they keep making newer ones. I still have my old Axe II I bought new. It is still a great effects unit, but it doesn't do what the III does of course. Only reason why I look at other options is because it is so huge...
I was also gonna suggest VP4. Fractal effects are great.
There are some others, but mostly pedals these days, like the Eventide H90, or TC Plethora series.
You could also find the old rack units mentioned in this thread. I have several of those also. It really comes down to what specific...
As mentioned, the Swamp Thang has a lot of high end presence, so when I play cabs in stereo with each, you can hear more presence in the Swamp Thang, but more mids in the Karnivore. The Swamp Thang is also louder. The Karnivore could appear brighter if you perceive upper mids as bright, but the...
The Swamp Thang actually has a lot of presence. It just don't have the typical upper mid push. It is solid low end, low mids, and high end presence. The Karnivore kind of sits in all the frequencies the Swamp Thang lacks.
Balanced Stereo / TRS outputs and XLR should technically be the same thing. Two different sizes of the same thing. You can buy adapters to go back and forth pretty cheap.
I think this situation is where capture devices like ToneX or Quad Cortex really shine. You can basically make a capture of your actual rig and have a pocket-sized version of it. You dont have to try to simulate it with a modeler.
Personally, just playing in my room I can always tell the feel...
I got a pair that I really like. I want to get 2 more and put them in a 412 cab.
Like a V30 that is darker without the annoying nasal mid honk. Darker than the Swamp Thang, but similar bass. I actually replaced a pair of K100s with these. I liked the K100s also though. I like K100s and T75s...
I would say no. You really need to find captures you like and load it onto the pedal through the computer.
The A+ move is to make captures of your actual amps with your actual settings, so that way you get a pocket sized version of your tone.
