All Shea's amps sound great to my ears...But this guy seems to find a way to make most amps sound similarly thin, and overly bright in the the high-top. And his playing doesn't do the amps any favors either. Sorry...Just my opinion.

I had emailed Shea randomly last week about a skeleton key and he said he was releasing a 100 watt this week to follow his socials. I got lucky enough to load the website randomly and order one before he posted it to Instagram.

Really excited to have this next to the Hellion. Can't wait to check it out

For some reason, I did too. More so because someone told me there was a new cab available. I saw the new amp and only 2 had been sold. I debated buying one since I really like my SK. In the end I held off because I’m guessing it’s probably just a 100w SK with a clean channel and I don’t need either of those features. Im surprised he can sell that many amps so quickly at that price point.

I'm interested to see how you like the cab, I just picked up a ksr 2x12 but want another 4x12.

I really like all of the skeleton key clips. 2.5 channels is extremely versatile for me so I jumped on it. Other boutique multi channel amps luke the headfirst Alta are priced there too.

I'm pretty sure it's that cab he's using loaded with those Cream 90's ..... I have a Mesa 1x12 widebody closed back with one it .... it's almost like they are to articulate and clear ..... with clean tones the speakers are incredible .... with high gain stuff .... it starts sounding just like you described ...

I have a Cream 90 in a Mesa 212 clone and it is noticeably less bright than the Scumback M75 I have paired with it. I love the low end clarity and thickness but its top end is too smooth for me, hence pairing it with a more vintage/brighter speaker. If you find the video too thin its most likely due to mic'ing location because the EQ is set pretty reasonable in the video (and assuming the amp's voicing is similar to a SK which I'm familiar with).

Looking at his site and trying to figure out what some of the new switches are, also looks like some minor changes from the SK's switches.

  • WEB. 2 way focus control for lower gain flexibility and detuned tones
    • I'm assuming this is the same focus switch he added to the latest version of the SK
    • I had Shae mod my V1 to add this, seems to cut the low end which was super helpful for lower gain stuff
  • GRAIL. 2 way ultra gain
    • This seems new, wonder if its just a switched version of the top input of the SK (boost)
  • UFO. 2 way compression style
    • Diodes I think
  • BLOOD. 2 way gain frequency control
    • Presumably the same as the SK
  • STORM. 2 way power amp response
    • Curious how this is different than the SK's 3 way control, presumably same thing just one less option?
If I didn't already own a Skeleton Key and a Fender Showman I'd be all over this amp.

I didn't buy the cab. Too much $ and then add high shipping cost. Just wanted to see what was up with it.

I can appreciate how good these amps sound, but could he come up with less juvenile names for these options? It's on the "Brown Eye", "Hairy Brown Eye" and "Fisted Sister" levels.. It's like something a higher-schooler into Star Wars would get into. If I were spending that kind of dough, I'd just get one of the new modified Marshalls, or an MGL and call it a day.

Sounds great. I know Shea was pretty excited about this amp. I am more of a single channel guy and enjoyed his skeleton key quite a bit, but this should be an exciting amp for people to get ahold of.

Maybe that's exactly what it is...But in any case the guy is talented. He's the only guy I've seen who's been able to speaker, mic and EQ all the great warmth and low-mid chewiness out of a Bogner 101B. That takes a special skill set.

His amps seem have an element of aggression to them that is very appealing to a certain segment of players. I like his work.

If the Amplifier has 2 channel, why not show the clean one too?

Hard to tell from Reza's demo if this amp has a significantly different tone than the Skeleton Key or if it's just a SK on steroids. I'd be inclined to get one if I wasn't already satisfied with my SK or I knew for sure this was a different tone.
