Luckily for me, I've heard skeleton keys before, so I assume this is a good sounding amp, but I would never buy one if this was the only demo I heard

Literally every demo sounds the exact same - anodyne, and slightly out of phase

Hard to tell from Reza's demo if this amp has a significantly different tone than the Skeleton Key or if it's just a SK on steroids. I'd be inclined to get one if I wasn't already satisfied with my SK or I knew for sure this was a different tone.
That demo... it sounds like a Skeleton Key to me as well.

Maybe in person there's more difference?

Is there a description from Shea that states what differentiates it from the skeleton key or the club secret? It does sound similar.

I’ve come to hate these redbacks. They aren’t helping matters.

oooh, I like that, "anodyne". Will have to add that to the vocab.

I like Rezza's vids a lot, but I get the sentiment.

I don't care for his vids because they make everything sound the same

If you dig that sound, that's cool - i've heard 90w creambacks in other contexts where they sounded great

But I've played a bunch of the amps he's demoed and i'm actually amazed that he got them to sound THAT much alike, even with the same speakers

not gonna lie, have to agree with you. I'm guilty of it too now that I think about it, about a dozen amps, and all dialed to do the same thing.

Hey man, you get good tone (singular) though! :ROFLMAO: I've heard it! plus your riffs slam hard, so I will accept no modesty from the @Erock

That makes WAY more sense - the alnico has got to be it.

Yeah IIRC that's part of his modus operandi - trying ALL these amps with the same speakers to keep it consistent.

Which is actually a good idea in a vacuum.... but TBH i think the alnico creamback homogenize things way more than say, V30s or blackbacks would. Either that or whatever mics, VSTs, and outboard gear he is using make shit sound flat and uninspiring, idk.

The proof is in the pudding :dunno: Kyle Bulls demos of amps all sound quite different even though he's almost always using v30s and a 57. Johan Segeborn is almost always using old greenbacks, and you can absolutely hear the differences in his videos.

If you’re on stage and can’t see the front panel or bump a setting during setup I can’t say I’d be too happy about trying to remember setting symbols.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of this either, but I don't think it would be a deal breaker if the amp was a world-beater

this thread is like taking an English class, I had to look up "anodyne"

I think it's an appropriate way to describe the demo :dunno:
I haven’t watched it or read past this post but as soon as I saw you say Cream 90, I knew…. Reza, and the way he dials amps makes the vid an unnecessary watch for me. I know what it will sound like, without watching it.

Yep, this. It's going to sound the exact same as all of his other demos, where somehow he makes a VH4 sound the exact same as a 2c+ and a Jose

absolutely man, that's why I'm stealing it!

edit: it's not going to put off people like me on purpose, that are used to how his demos sound. Maybe not make me want to buy one either though.

I’m sure it sounds like a power sander with 180 grit on a metal counter top, why amp builders send new amps for him to be the first to demo is one of my great mysteries in life

I find reza's video to give me a perfect representation of what an amp will sound like in my guitar room. It has been damn near the same every amp I.get that he demos.

This amp, maybe the way he dialed it, sounded off. The skeleton key is a serious amp though, so i will check out the @killertone demo. I believe he gets it next

I've got to be honest. Even switching back and forth between amps I tend to dial them all in pretty similarly in my room. I think it does them all an injustice versus dialing them all in to their individual sweet spots
