I think we are on the verge of either going full nuts digital (not just in amps, but in life), or going to appreciate artisans and their craft.

Digital is like Wal-Mart. It serves a purpose, but I don't desire to shop there.

There was an album or 2 (self recorded) that came out lately that would have 1000% sounded better with plugins than trying to record yourself at apartment volume with a tube amp and limited technology. The moral....get the label to give you a recording budget

While I agree with sharvell dan the upside to processing your sound using only zeroes and ones is you don't need a handtruck for your amp.
