Hey guys, I have a Lexicon MPX-1 and really want the little more powerful G2 version. Does anyone have one in excellent to mint condition one they would like to sell?
Thanks,
Jason
I absolutely love mine. I run the gain around that as well. I like to boost the green and blue channels but honestly doesn’t really need it. The red channel has a shit load of gain and don’t ever run it over 10-11 o’clock. This amp has 7 gain stages on the red channel and 5 on the blue channel..
So green and red line is 220k and 100k resistor in series, with and without the 500p bypass cap on v1a?
Then the purple line is one 330k resistor and a 500p bypass cap on v1a?
That would be awesome to hear that clip! I remember James posting those, that was really cool of him to do. IMO 5150ii's sit really well in the mix, my good friend had one and played out all the time and it just sat in the mix just perfectly.
After reviewing some schematics of Friedman amps, I keep finding this off of V1a tube plate resistor, rather the just a 330k plate, he uses a 220k and 100k in series with a partial 500p bypass capacitor over the 100k. Why not just use one resistor and cap instead of 2 resistors? I've never...
It's got a pretty gradual sweep to the master volume, the "era" switch does effect the volume so you will have to compensate by turning the volume up to get the same loudness out of the amp when you are in clipping diodes.
The 100 has a little bit different phase inverter setup then the 50 so...
I had Nic send me an amp that was ready for my own set of transformers, basically almost fully built with out the transformers and can caps installed. I installed a set of basically off the shelf Mercury Magnetics iron that MC recommended to me. It's probably the best sounding amp I have and...
You have the run the post channel volumes on the invective all the way up and also have the footswitch to engage the master volume boost otherwise it just chops the sack off of it. The whole master volume boost feature is assbackwards and IMO it does the 5150 gain thing that sounds a little...
