nano cortex, H9, and a power stage fit on a small board and would cover about anything I would imagine. The update for the nano cortex makes it pretty versatile as far as FX routing.
Honestly I have a few that are better players. I have an old suhr that’s nothing special that I think plays better. That’s all subjective anyway though.
The point I was trying to make is the Les Paul just has a certain mojo that I can’t put my finger on. Probably because I grew up in a strat...
always been a supersrat or vintage strat guy. Then I got the itch for a singlecut but got distracted by a bobcat that’s cool but something entirely different.
Last month I found an R9 on reverb that’s ultra light aged that has quickly become my favorite guitar. It’s odd, definitely not the best...
My buckers split and pull in the mid position single coil. Kinda like position 4 on a regular strat. Best split tone I’ve ever heard out of a bucker.
Kickass guitar, enjoy!
I’d be real tempted to sell those mini heads and get a single larger model like the small box or be100. Larger power section and transformer can really help with the perceived tightness and response you may be trying to get from a pedal. Just a thought.
XTC 101B is different enough from a Marshall and a “must own” to give a shot if you never have. Uberschall is wicked as well, but I’ve never played the ultra model.
I don’t know about a bust, but I’m not buying a 20w EL84 amp sight unseen. I haven’t found one of these near me yet to try. I’m afraid it won’t have enough ass…
If it was 2x EL34 in a 30-50w amp they would have been better off. Just my opinion though.
It’s not that big of a difference in my opinion. The mod adds a bit more gain and compression to the red channel. It’s a simple one to have done or do yourself. It’s a 10K resistor in series with a 1uF poly cap across the stock 10K cathode resistor (R12) on the red channel.
The Fillmore is great as well. I played a cali tweed and a Fillmore 50 and left with the Fillmore.
I wish someone was doing a mod to Fillmore to put some more low end in the gain channel. The clean is a spectacular mix of blackface and tweed though. That channel is worth the amp price alone.
