Not necessarily. MoP was all IIC+ power amp. The Strategy 400 they used on later albums may or may not be simul, who knows. Some of the early ones were simuls.
I guess we hear different things. I have a C++ KDRG, C++ DRG, had a C++ HRG earlier. And currently have another HRG at Mesa waiting to be ++ modded. To me the simuls sound a lot more Metallica. That’s with all 6L6’s and a parametric EQ in the loop.
They always had more mids in their live sound. I doubt the heavy mid scoop they had on the Justice album would work live.
1989 was when Metallica were on the top of their game. James’s voice was sooo good back then!
Don’t believe everything you see on the internet ?
I can guarantee that is not James’s Crunchberries head shell. That is probably just a fanboy trying to replicate James’s amp.
The settings on Crunchberries is not written on the tolex, it’s written on a strip of black tape.
Also, the letters...
I think Bob Rock is mixing up things. Maybe he is mixing it up with Sykes, who used Mark III, as they talk about recording Whitesnake ‘87 in the same interview. There’s nothing to suggest that Metallica ever used Mark III’s. And according to a Oct ‘91 (right after the album was released)...
Where have you seen those pics? I’d like to see them as well. I’ve only seen IIC+’s. And Flemmings notes for Justice shows IIC+. Well IIC++ really. Kirks “Lead A” head, that is a C++, that later James took over. Same amp is seen in James’s amp rack during the TBA recordings. According to...
Definitely not Colis. Look at the mounting screws for the chassis. Mark II and early III K’s have a slightly wider chassis. And the mounting screws are wider apart. On the regular long chassis they are in line with the input and footswitch jacks.
Also, according to Mike B they never had Colis...
Yeah, definitely. And that’s no secret. Flemmings notes for Justice has settings on slave out and levels for the Strategy 400. But we’ll never know if his Strategy 400 is simul or not. Since some of the earliest ones were, according to Mike B.
Hetfield has referred to his IIC+’s as Simul-class. In those you can run a pair of EL34’s together with the 6L6’s. Or all 6L6’s. My guess is that he ran all 6L6’s.
There is this big misunderstanding that he was slaving the IIC+ into a Marshall on Puppets. But Flemming Rasmussen said that they...
