    New p/ups for my Suhr?

Yeah, I know haha, I actually really like them tbh! There's always some other great pickups out there though of course

    New p/ups for my Suhr?

Got the SSH+ and SSV in the bridge and neck and I really like them, but we know what we're like with our GAS problems, so if I was looking for some new ones, what do you think I should go for? Something medium gain with a lot of clarity for the bridge and something nice and plummy and round...

Eric Clapton - the only thing worth mentioning.

Yeah, but it was a Marshall for Hideaway and that album though, famously, so I just wonder what changed between then and Cream?

Eric Clapton - the only thing worth mentioning.

Maybe I wasn't making myself clear enough - compare the throaty brown sound of Hideaway with Bluesbreakers, to the almost "straight into the desk" sound on this track from the Layla album post Cream. This is what I was getting at, maybe they started recoding his guitar differently...

Some video from last weekend show. AX8 content

Really nailing those Ozzy tones with that Fractal... and playing of course!

Eric Clapton - the only thing worth mentioning.

Clapton's playing and songwriting is obviously deservedly praised. His set at Knebworth '90, and the rest of the gig with other bands on it my parents recorded, is what got me into guitar when I was 8 (His Soldano years there too). Buuuut... his tone on Cream studio records and the Derek...

I.... didn't understand any of that! I'll take your word for it ;) That Major of yours beats most amps around imo.

Wow, never knew that. That just with the Major or other types of Plexis too?

Finally got one - CAA 3+ SE preamp

I should also add that it's just that sound you demo'd, I'm sure you can get loads more tones from your rig, I'm not trying to be mean or anything!

Finally got one - CAA 3+ SE preamp

If you're putting up a clip there might not always be people, like myself, who like it. Imo you've spent thousands and not really ended up with something that great, but of course others might disagree. (No-one has actually commented on the sound you get itself though if you notice). Here's my...

Excellent tone and playing, that particular Major really is a special amp! How does it sound with a nice OD pedal in front of it out of interest?

5153 50w : "Dirty Movies" from Saturday Night

The whole "going right up to the crowd and playing in their face for ages" thing? Not so much for me; makes me REALLY uncomfortable when guitarists do that! Very authentic guitar sound though!

Choose your worst 80's album/amp tone.

What is it you like about their tones on the classic albums for example? Just trying to understand it as I don't hear it! That Wickerman clip was ok, maybe it sounds a lot beefier live?

Don't take this the wrong way, but both of these examples sound like something you could EASILY get out of a Boss or Digitech floor pedal.

Choose your worst 80's album/amp tone.

I defended Operation Mindcrime above, but someone mentioned the lead tones and I'll agree with that - weak link there for sure; way too fizzy! I've NEVER heard an Iron Maiden album with a tone I like, studio or live; it's just not heavy enough for a "heavy metal" band, too muddy, no definition...

I know EXACTLY what you mean! There's a similar one in Sinner's Swing at the "Soon you'll see my silouette...." breakdown bit at about 2.09 which I think is probably the best chord ever recorded haha!

Choose your worst 80's album/amp tone.

I think the production of that album was very divisive at the time? I like it, it's "modern" and cold which matches the story well and I'm sure was intentional. Sounds great cranked in a car I think! Someone mentioned they liked Ozzy's "No Rest..." in the "Best 80's tone" thread and I couldn't...

    Steve Vai - Modern Primitive

Very interesting album! Not a fan of his singing at all though, the track with Devin on it is brilliant.

Also, great tone as well I should add

Vai's Eat 'Em and Smile tone was pretty tasty.
