I bought a Vox Nightrain because it was for sale on Sweetwater for $300 new. I like it, it sounds like a hot rodded AC 15. It's not a Metal amp, but you get a nice bluesy bright sound with a nice midrange. I use it when I need more gain than my Vox AC30. It sounds great with a Strat.

It makes sense to do that. They use it on studio monitors or stereo speakers, so why not on a 4 x 12 cabinet? Sounds like a good idea.

I like using eq pre and post distortion, like using a 10 band MXR or a Furman PEQ3 and a 10 band on the amp's effects loop. I sometimes use a dummyload and plug a 10 band eq between the dummyload and my Mesa Boogie 2 90 because I rather eq what's coming out of a 4 x 12 than using the eq from the...

I have a 10 Band MXR and love it. I also have an old Furman PEQ3 it's a parametric eq, I like the parametric better because each band has it's own a bandwith control and you can widen or narrow the frequency you boost. If you can find a Boss GE 10 which I also have, it's also a good choice.

We had issues a couple of times and I have a kill switch just in case things go south. When it happened it wasn't a big deal because we actually sing the parts and use the track to make the background vocals thicker so nobody noticed, if it's a keyboard part, I just cover the part with my guitar.
