I bought a Vox Nightrain because it was for sale on Sweetwater for $300 new. I like it, it sounds like a hot rodded AC 15. It's not a Metal amp, but you get a nice bluesy bright sound with a nice midrange. I use it when I need more gain than my Vox AC30. It sounds great with a Strat.
I need to go out and try some more Humbuckers! I've been a Strat guy for awhile using stock pick ups,EMG's Single coils,Kinman and Joe Barden. I see all these pick ups that people are mentioning and I have no clue about them! I use stock Gibson classic 57 on my Les Paul and they're ok. I like...
I have one complete Black Warmoth and 3 different necks on 3 Fender bodies(64, 57 Reissue and another Fender Body I bought from ebay)The Black one has a Poplar body and all the necks are bird's eye maple with Brazilian rosewood, ecxept 1 that's maple. The Red one(a real 64) and the black one are...
I just purchased a 2012 PRS Custom and it has the 59/09 mt and I like them, but I might change my mind later on. I like the mids and the top end and not to hot. I'm not into hot pickups
If you buy one, I suggest getting a good attenuator, there's a lot of good ones available. I have a plexi/JCM800 100 watt clone and I always use the attenuator all the time, even when I don't crank it to 10 because to me they start sounding the way I like it at 5 or 7. I also use it on my high...
I guess I'll be buying one! I just have to check out how the switching works. I also have to learn how to make my own profiles since I have good mic pre's and mic, I should be able to get some good profiles.
I was just joking just a bit. The EPA is needed but they have way to much power. In California some of the laws they have here are a bit to much. It's so difficult for companies to make a profit here, that they're leaving Ca. Was the use of having all this laws for the enviroment when other...
That's one thing I like about my Axe Fx Ultra, I can tweak a lot of parameters within the amp. I'm happy with it for gigs because all the different amps it has. It also has a ton of effects and they sound good. I used to bring my Avalon VT 737sp and used it at the front end of the Axe Fx and it...
I've never tried the Kemper and I didn't post this because I agree with Michael Wagener. I just found it interesting what he thinks about the Kemper. Saying that his point of view might not be valid because he hasn't done anything since the 80's might be a bit harsh. He has more expereience...
I'm planning to get one as soon as they make a rack mounted version. That's one of the reasons I didn't upgrade to the Axe Fx 2. I use my Axe Fx Ultra for live gigs and also a bass amp for in studio.
If it wasn't for the EPA, we wouldn't have to buy tubes from Russia and China!Abolish the EPA! They are bankrupting our country!LOL! I think everyone should save a % of their money and start stocking up on tubes. Find a room in your house and store them! I can see it in the future when you're on...
I like using eq pre and post distortion, like using a 10 band MXR or a Furman PEQ3 and a 10 band on the amp's effects loop. I sometimes use a dummyload and plug a 10 band eq between the dummyload and my Mesa Boogie 2 90 because I rather eq what's coming out of a 4 x 12 than using the eq from the...
I have a 10 Band MXR and love it. I also have an old Furman PEQ3 it's a parametric eq, I like the parametric better because each band has it's own a bandwith control and you can widen or narrow the frequency you boost. If you can find a Boss GE 10 which I also have, it's also a good choice.
Thanks, and this one has no backing tracks!LOL!We're lucky to have our singer and he's a cool guy too! I just explain the gear that I use just so people can hear how the amps sound on different situations. I try to get the sound as close to the original, but I didn't have my Metro amp which...
Hi Dave, I talked to you a couple of times about doing some work to my Marsha(#0024) and I'm having an issue with the HBE input, the sound is cutting in and out and I have to move the cable untill it starts working, it also has some intermittent noise. The problem is that 2 of my other amps that...
We had issues a couple of times and I have a kill switch just in case things go south. When it happened it wasn't a big deal because we actually sing the parts and use the track to make the background vocals thicker so nobody noticed, if it's a keyboard part, I just cover the part with my guitar.
