Need som help on my effects config (herbert).

Yes and because of that I sold it. In my opinion the same applies to all noise gates I have tested. Getting your singnal path cleaned from ground loops and other shielding & grounding problems is better solution. The gate will always cut your delay and reverb trails unless you place them after...

    One Head Two Cabs

I was using such combination in two or so years ago. I had VHT front loaded FatBottom and Rivera rear loaded K212. That was OK, but hated the VHT FatAss so changed to different cabs. In terms of front vs. back loaded in simultaneous use, it did not make much difference - At least with these cabs...

Need help with MIDI Footswitch Troubleshooting for VH4S!

By MIDI-channel settings Im meaning, that check on which MIDI-channel your TC and VH4 are. Sometimes it is surprisingly easy to mess the settings with this modern digital stuff. Manuals are your friends with this topic in case you are uncertain how to check them. And for problemsolving purposes...

Need help with MIDI Footswitch Troubleshooting for VH4S!

Master Peter will definitely help you, esp. if it is MIDI-chip problem. Just a thought for DIY-troubleshooting, have you checked the MIDI-channel settings in both devices? If I understood correctly your setup has remained the same and it has been working fine until now. Or has there been a...

Help me on the midi front

Unfortunately no. I think this is more or less impossible to achieve without digital interface or motorized pots + memory logic. In VH4 you have the Channel inserts for all 4 channels though. You can insert separate EQ-pedal in those if you need that much different sounds stored. In both amps...

Help me on the midi front

    1. No, VH4 and Herbert work the same way, but there are some differences what functions/features are controllable through MIDI and what are not. 2. PC = loading a set of predefined settings, e.g. Channel 1 with Loop on. Roughly said, PC is a number that is sent through a certain MIDI...

Is KT77 now the preferred Diezel Tube?!

Peter, does this mean that I will never receive the EL34 BeeGees I ordered months ago?

Maintenance noob with Diezel VH4 tube problems

All users have good and bad things to say about any tube brand. They all are piece of crap from reliability point of view. Even a new tube can fail in few weeks. Im currently using TungSols in all of my amps and they sound good - Yet, the best sounding tube I have not met. Honestly, I have never...

Just bought my first VH4....a small wish.

I have deep wish for you Peter as well: Do NOT never ever change them in blue as a standard option. Im getting sick and tired of all of new equipment coming with these blue "play faster" -leds nowadays.

    Oscillation on ch. 3 & 4, what gives ?

Hmmm...Quoting myself. I am getting more and more idiotic day after day. I must have confused the thread to another one I have been posting into lately as I have not noticed that this thread is about Hagen. I thought that this is about VH4 and hence the above tube layout. I apologize my...

    Oscillation on ch. 3 & 4, what gives ?

Very subjective and difficult question. Ruby (selected Chinese) is the official recommendation by Diezel. Naturally many other brands work very well also. Currently I have TungSols in all slots, but next time I retube I will try Rubys again, just for curiosity since it has been a while since I...

    Oscillation on ch. 3 & 4, what gives ?

V1 Used by all channels V2 Used by channel 4 V3 Used by channel 2/3/4 V4 Used by all channels V5 Mixer and Send buffer V6 Return driver V7 Phase Inverter Someone, please correct me if the above is not right. And I would always start by changing the V1 first as that is the primary stage...

    Can Herbert Sound like this?

I see no reason why Herbert would not get this sound to you. The micing has a lot to do with the recording sound. Im rather sure that you would be surprised if you would hear the same sound in that room, not the sound that you hear that is picked via the mic(s).

Using the VH4 thru jack in a dual amp set up...

I have tried and it worked fine. However I did not do any "science proof" A/B -tests so cannot say for fact that there was no signal lost. I did not use anything else between the the second amp. I have a dual amp setup, but currently I split my signal elsewhere. If you want, I can try...

VH4: Regarding the MIDI In connection

These Cordials should have connectors that can be opened. I also think they have only 3 wires connected. Does your MIDI cable have connectors that could be opened (a metal chasis with a screw) or are they molded with plastic on top? Because the easiest way to make sure is if you open them up. If...

VH4: Regarding the MIDI In connection

Why don't you just use a MIDI cable that has 3 pins connected between GCX and VH4? Usually cables have 5 pin connectors, but they do not neccesarily still have all 5 pins connected (1 & 3 are unconnected). Personally, I would not cut any pins as they fit more firmly this way. By the way, I...

    MIDI footswitch VH4

Olaf, in case of a need for rewiring, it is due to Phantom power in different pins, right?

    MIDI footswitch VH4

Change your cables to XLR. Much more reliable and easier to find in case of "emergency". Very easy task if you do not use phantom power and about 10 minutes more difficult if you do use. But if you connect your cable directly to your amp you might need to consider building a panel or box if you...
