Nice! Not that I'd necessarily need to raise the volume. I maxed out a PT once through a 412 and it was plenty loud but if I was trying to keep up with a loud drummer, it's nice to know that it would work. Thanks
Specifically a Friedman 20 watt.
I have several big amps around the house, 85-120 watts.
I LOVE the Dirty Shirley tone and was thinking about snagging the mini for jamming around the house. I also plan on getting a Fryette Power station at some point and was thinking that if I ever jump...
I liked my old 3-channel much more than the multi-watts (dual and triple) I played. I don't know how to describe it but the newer ones seemed to accentuate and bring out even more of the somewhat brittle presence that the rectos can have. It's part of the sound and what makes them cut but the...
I’d definitely take a VH2/4 over a Herbert. Very different amps and it just depends on what voicing and feel you like. I could not get into the Herb either time I played them. I love the VH4 and judging from the clips, the 2 delivers that sound.
Congrats on the new amp!
Dan carries a lot of weight on his shoulder every time he has to walk outside to piss.
RIP Steve! I already posted my thoughts earlier this year but so nice to see the thread lives on. Shows how much he was loved and what an impact he made on the RT community.
I have a 2nd Degree bridge pup in my old Studio and it sounds amazing. I get a lot of guys asking how I’m getting the tones I get with that guitar. 50s wiring, Motor City and 500k pots.
For me it seems like it’s not as simple as how good my playing is. In fact when I have a “GTD”, it usually causes me to play simple riffs and chords (think Malcolm) and I just take in how awesome everything sounds. If I’m not feeling it after tweaking my amps I usually plug into my interface...
I recorded with a TSL and I had a lot of trouble dialing it in which is unusual for a Marshall. Not saying they can't sound good because I'm sure someone will post a clip of a smokin TSL but to me it was grainy, cold and uninspiring gain. The DSL is easy to get killer tones out of.
I use a VFE Rocket to boost my Jubilee 2555x and it can get somewhat into metal territory but not insanely aggressive. It retains a lot of warmth in the midrange but that's partially due to how I dial it in. The midrange control is so responsive on that amp and I don't scoop it at all.
Nice...
